Im lookin to get a car. Itll be my first. Im not materialistic so something cheap would be more than ok

As long as it gets me from point a to b and back

Whats a reasonable price? Something i had in the back of my head was my cousins car. He's selling it for 1k but it has an issue. Forgot what

My boy was saying just to get it cause it's cheap but I'm not tryna lose money maintaining it throughout the year

Also where should i look to get one? And what steps should i take to make sure I'm getting a good deal?

If u just want a point a to point b cheap as possible car a carolla would b ur best bet.

Use this to assess  a car's value.

I'd say 3-4k you can get an ok whip,1-3 for a bucket. I'd go with a civic/corolla. Cheap to maintain, great on gas, probly cheap insurance, no power though.

Have a mechanic check your ishh out.

Make sure there arent white/blue numbers on any parts, if theres is probly bought at a junkyard, who knows what else they went cheap on.

Make sure the interior is maintained and clean. If the owner cant keep his inside clean, what makes you think the inside is gucci, most likely they arent maintaining the car.

I'd go craigslist.

Set aside 500 for fixes before the purchase, you never know.

if you know someone who knows a bit about cars try taking them with you to check it out, it will save you.

Are you going to be hauling friends or stuff around? Definitely get an inspection before buying You may need to get a couple, but it'll save you the headache of buying a lemon. I ended up getting about 3-4 before I finally found a car I liked without an issue.

Craigslist is a good place to start. Lots of people are selling their used cars on there. I've got an app on my phone called "craig finder" that'll do the search for me and notify me if something pops up in my criteria. Not sure if it's still in the play store though. I think you can do the same with Edmonds, or other retail car sites too, but typically those cars cost a bit more since the retailer is concerned about making a profit whereas consumers just want to get rid of the car and buy a new one.
