By now you know that Microsoft's on-line store is selling PCs and third party software. Well,Microsoft is also waving the flag over Scottsdale, AZ today as it swings the doors wide on its newline of brick-and-mortar retail stores. Fans lined up overnight and stood for hours in a twisted line that should have Apple fans nodding in a tacitunderstanding. Come on, you may have different tastes in OSes but you should be willing to fight to the death for the right to choose 'em. Check the queueafter the break as well as the grand opening countdown from 7, naturally, and a first walk around the store. Pics just beyond the read link down there.

P.S. The first four campers each received a free Zune HD from Microsoft. Nice.

IGNORANCE.

OMgaddd that looks exactly like a Apple store. Come on Microsoft be more creative

They probably paid people to camp out in line as if they were REALLY anticipating the new opening more than anything in the world

I can't see a Microsoft store being anything other than a glorified Radio Shack

The store actually reminds me more of the Sony store than the Apple store..

Them Apple boys about to get you for that comment.

I don't get it, what are the people standing in line waiting for that isn't already available at your local Best Buy? They did jack the Apple Storesomething serious, looks damn near the same.

I don't know how successful this will be, the thing is, AAPL can be more self sufficient then say Windows/MS can be.
AAPL has more hardware than Microsoft does so Microsoft could indirectly be competing with other stores/manufacturers who rely on them....

It'll be interesting to see how this does.

Why was AZ picked as the first store location?

This is just a guess, but maybe picking a major city for their first location might be too much of a gamble for something that may be a success ora %%%% load of fail.

white walls, white pillars, simplistic Apple-like font, multi-color t-shirts, name badges around the neck, cubbies for accessories, nearly identicalworktables.

*THUMBS UP WINDOWS!!!!*

Scottsdale is getting all kinds of win. Glad to be living in AZ for once.

A microsoft store has a serious amount of potential if they focused on 1st Party Hardware like Apple has 1st party PC's, Zunes, xbox's, software andmore. I wish Ubuntu had more coverage
