About 25-30 minutes away with no traffic, at the Citadel in Orange County.  Just be cautious of that late afternoon traffic on the 5 freeway. 
Are you thinking of hitting up Flight Club L.A.??   There's a lot to do, outside of DTLA. 

yeah, planning to go to Disneyland and then hit up Citadel outlets

 on the way back. As i am packing only 1 set of clothes and shoes and buying the lot once im over there !

might re-book our hotel closer to West Hollywood/Beverly hills. As i hear the traffic is crazy in LA and want to avoid driving in it.

thanks Matt , i work for Marriott, so i get good hotel and rental rates with Hertz, so will definitely get one.

Avoiding driving may be tough as our public transportation isn't the best, but adequate.
