So i'll be visiting the Philippines for the first time in the coming weeks and wanted to know what to expect while i'm there. I'm half Filipino and will be staying with family some of the trip and hotels the rest of the trip. Visiting Manila, Siquijor, Boracay, and Munoz. Any good sites/things to do in these cities? As far as bringing a digital SLR, is it recommended or should i just bring a point and shoot, i don't want to attract a lot of attention.

^try to eat street foods like fish ball, kikiam, squid balls, isaw (pork & chicken intestines), betamax (chicken blood), and ice scramble (our ghetto milkshake).

and try san miguel beer and red horse beer (in case you havent yet)! it goes well with balut and sizzling sisig!

you can visit all these beautiful places but i dont think your trip will be complete until you taste all these mouth watering delicacies...

and you can definitely bring your SLR, its already common here in the Philippines though most of them who carry SLR's here set it to auto focus anyway....

enjoy your trip fam!

DSLR's are fairly common around here, too.

So you can forget worrying about it.

there are 3 faces of the philippines:

-the slums
-the rich
-the country scene

if you will be driving around,

prepare your mind as you will be experiencing the following A LOT!

-drivers that will cut your lane,
-jeepneys and buses that will stop in the middle of the road
-beware of MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS that will over-take on your BLIND SPOT and thinks that they are the KING of the road.

beware of sellers that will jack up the price once they learned that you are a foreigner or a balikbayan
