Basically the story is that I really want to follow my dreams, I want to work in Film and Music. Thing is though, I'm 19 ( turning 20 in May ) and I haven't begun yet, I feel like my time is running out. I can't believe I'm leavin my teen years with not one talent! How do I get rid of this defeatist mentality and go on to live my dreams?! :{

Well well well today is your lucky day compadre. I work in the business you would like yo be a part of what do you want to do? In regards to having a defeatist attitude I don't really see where you've came across any defeat?? You're 19 running out of time? Child hush.

^yea that's where he has me lost it took me eight years of heart break to really get my foot in the game and this kid is 19 talking about hr's washed up! Hahahhahahh my generation and everyone younger than me cracks me up. They think true success just happens over night. Man you gotta fall on your *** and get your heart broke atleast 30 times before you've even git it figured out.

Why don't you stop waiting for it to be given to you and go do something about it?

O.P. I work in film/t.v. but I collaborate and do projects with music industry folks all of the time. You never said specifically what you wanted to do.

I want to make/produce music and I also want to write and film movies/TVshows. I know it sounds outlandish but it's the only two things I love.

Do you know how to produce music?
Have you ever taken music lessons?
Have you ever take film classes?
Do you know how to edit?
Do you know how to operate a camera?
Are you in school right now?

1. The most experience I have is with the mobile version of FL Studio but I learned how to arrange sounds pretty good on that and made some ok beats. 2. Took one drumming lesson in august of 2011. 3. A little in 9th grade but plan on taking official classes this spring/summer. 4. Same as #3. 5. Yes 6. No

Did any of y'all seriously follow your dreams?
Yes. Ever since I knew what a train was I knew I wanted to be a Locomotive Engineer. I finished high school in 2004, hired on the railroad in 2006 as a Conductor and got qualified as an Engineer in 2011. I have been working my dream job for 2 years now and love it.

dreams?

aint nobody got time for that

You're 19 ... Your time hasn't even started.
lol....

srsly.....when i was in grade school, i 'wanted' to be a librarian in space....(huh?).......then a lawyer....(good grief).......

but when i truly started thinking for myself........i was your age......still going after it a few years later......

dreams though.......they need to be edited......dogma is such an imposter.....

Plan to open my own boutique.

Need to learn the business side of it,so I'm taking Bus classes now.

I'll need a huge start fund for it.

nah bruh, i'm still sleeping.

on the real, you're still young, everything has a time and place. don't rush anything and keep your head straight. don't look at what other people have or where they're at, focus on you and have a blast living life while you follow your dreams. if you think life is flying by, just go for a walk, take a deep breath, clear your head and plan things out and follow through.

i've been working in the music industry for about 5 years now. stop feeling sorry for yourself and start doing some serious research on what steps you need to take to do whatever it is you want to do. the longer you put off your dreams, the harder and scarier they become to achieve as you get older. you're gonna hate yourself the longer you wait around not doing anything about it. trust me

:lol That was hella funny for some reason.

I really wish I had a dream to follow. You only get one life, might as well live it how you want so you'll get the most enjoyment out of it.

Follow your dreams people!
