Pretty sure there’s been some of that cheese in my fridge recently. Ain’t no complaints. I need better friends, preferably with some type of charcuterie game.

Family from NYC and Philly visiting CA for 1st time.
Moms made some noodles with Nem nuong (grilled pork Vietnamese style) with 2 style egg rolls with that special orange "Sauce" they haven't had since moving to the US

slighted slighted you ever had these egg rolls (cha gio re) before? Didn't know these existed until few months ago.

Ham>>>>>>Turkey on Thanksgiving

I like turkey burgers but I dont really care to eat turkey, ill have a bit and usually breast but meh. the flavor of ham... OMG I can't wait :lol

I told my dad if he's gonna overcook the thanksgiving turkey again, then just forget about it and bake a few chickens.

Hell nah. Ham is for christmas. And Kanye and jigga
Luckily we make it for both holidays but my mother always makes a ham and a turkey for thanksgiving even though I think my family is eating less and less turkey and eating more ham so it’s kind of a waste

Man this may be a long post for the food thread but food tells stories and I think that's what makes food even more important:
Growing up as kid who didn't really know his roots back to the homeland in a city of carribean people was kind of tough. There were so many differences between my family's' lifestyles in comparison to others. It was tough watching all my friends talk about how their family had land, agriculture, business, etc. set up all across the caribs my story couldn't relate. Whether it was Mom and Pop Shops, Agriculture, Fashion, or even political involvement I could not relate. I've been bouncing back between the west coast and home and I've finally settled down for good in the tri state area ( which i know like the back of my hand) and I've missed caribbean food so bad. A local spot in my town showed me love when I went in and grabbed my usual Chicken Roti, they hooked it up to the max and it took me to my childhood of running into caribbean spots with barely enough money to by a beef patty. I'm older and I have been able to trace my past to north Africa but Caribbean food will always have my heart. It brought my life long friends and into the position we're in now. Food breaks barriers in the easiest way and it's a blessing. I found a local spot back home that brought me back to old times, it was a blessing.
