I'm here now ...

The weather here is incredibly hot—I've never been here this time of year, so I'm struggling. But I'm planning to hit Luke's for chicken and waffles, then maybe get lost in the Garden District.

I'm looking for off the beat activities or just some good old Southern food. I'm thinking about Gris-Gris later or Little Dizzy's—quite a contrast, but hey.

I'm also looking for nice places to shop, maybe on Magazine Street, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. Any recommendations?
