Props for being a good person though.
WORD. ATT should be able to tell you who the phone belongs to and help you contact the person.
Good karma is coming your way man. Props on doing the right thing for real. Not many would do the same

you could restore it on itunes, but that will erase everything, including contacts. Once you do that, you could wait for a text/call and you could respond to that.

take it to the store and have them look up the info and contact the owner. If they decide to steal it, it's out of your hands

OP, if it's an iPhone 4 or 3GS do this:

hold the home button so voice control can come up

say

"call home/dad/mom" (or if those don't work, try common names like Mike.. etc)

and it will dial. you won't need a passcode to do this.

as long as the person didn't disable voice control then it will work

umm its mine and I lost it in a cab where u found it yea that's right a cab and I would like it back and I have a reward maybe

if you want the phone.. try putting it in DFU mode.. holding the power button for 5-7 then the home button also for 5-7 then release the power button and hold the home button down for another couple of seconds and it should be good..

I don't think you can restore it without the pass code, Try making something up like your nephew locked it or something AT&T might help
