i mean honestly if i was an artist, your only options to get proper promo and treatment is either to sign to a rapper label or get your movement up to where you can have your own label/go semi - independent (rocky, wiz, mac, macklemore, etc.) or get your movement up to where you can negotiate a deal with a rapper label without having to sign a rape/360 deal (Drake, although that was super rare)

So i understand the mentality but i was more asking how was he able to just get out of his Def Jam deal

Future was gone take off with or without Rocko

Am I the only one that thinks that these deals are just ways labels can promote themselves through other labels. Def Jam just sees Durk being a good fit being on French's team.

I think its a joint venture deal.

Same way Game was signed to Aftermath for years before 50 and Dre to put him in G-Unit.

Ross aint signed to Diddy though.
