And this post has been enlightening to say the least. I'm sure you have a million dope stories to tell, since some of us have 100k, and haven't lead NEARLY the life you have. Your non-fiction is better than most people's fiction (which I believe enPHAN was alluding to with the "Ducktales" comments... I hope that explained it for the uninitiated...)
thats crazy to hear. Im from the D too and for the longest I thought Em was blackballin the whole city. I heard stories of how Blade almost gotsigned but you know how the streets talk. I meet this Entertainment Attorney named Kim Ward and she explained to me the business and how Short Dog was signingto RSMG but that didn't end well she also worked with Jay Dilla. But I am hearing from friends who mess with the Myspace Music scene that some kid whocalls him self The Fresh Prince is supposed to get signed but i don't know about that either.

According to my folks, the rumor around town back in the day was that you couldn't sign somebody from the City because, if they still stayedthere, it was only a matter of time before something bad would happen to them and there would be a major loss of investment.

Like I said, I don't know how true that was, and we were all either drunk or high (or both) when it was said, so I never really asked anyone. But asit's now almost 10 years later and we STILL don't have anybody out here like that for dolo... It just makes me wonder. Like Marv, Black Milk, QuestMcCody and a bunch of other cats is out here nice, but not one of em has gotten it in in that way. I suppose its connections, but then again, I been inmeetings with some of these guys at times and they are all like "Yeah yeah! Let's DO IT!" and then a couple weeks later its like "Everythingfell through... sorry".

I was just wondering if Senor Baller had ever heard anything of that sort in or around his circles...
 
my boy Everlast used to date Tera..... then I met her at his videoshoot...... then met her at Sav-On (now cvs) swagger was drippin, so I stepped to her..... 1date and it was on. I never called again, neither did she. then my boy Evan wifey'd her early and cashed in.... thats the bridged story


and I never heard anything about the detroit situation, not in 1994 to 1999, especially since Marshall was signed in 1997ish. JDilla and other cats came outtathere.
MC Breed was from Flint and had a platinum album. but I dunno.
