At my job we got a lot of "treehugger" type folks that drive compact cars & hatchbacks. Our parking lot is filled with: Mitsubishi Mirage, Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit, Chevy Spark, Fiat500, Nissan Versa, Kia Rio etc. Needless to say...They winning tremendously right now.
One of our managers had bought a Ram2500 for $67k, back in 2024. When it disappeared a couple months ago he claimed he sold it, but we found out from the payroll lady that Dodge is garnishing like $300 out of each check

meaning he actually got repossessed.
Besides him, our team lead drives a 15 year old Tacoma lifted on 33s. Yeah it's paid off, but he recently had to drop $1500 for a set of tires. He doesn't have the money to do the Valve Cover Gasket, We be seeing him out in the parking lot topping off his oil alot.
I had to start leaving for work an hour early, cause with traffic patterns, I'll only hit 4 red lights if I leave at 6:00am rather than 7:00am. I was filling up every week now it's like every 10 days. I did some dumb stuff, putting 20 inch rims (stock was 17s) and had spacers installed so I could run a wider tire (245 to 275) so things were rough the last few years, but I had an epiphany about elderly drivers. They drive slow AF but never get stuck by red lights, keeping there fuel economy in the 40mpg range and preserving their brake pads and rotors.
For instance If the light has been green for more than 10 seconds I know it's going to turn yellow so I let off the gas, switch lanes to let the other drivers pass. Then when they're at a complete stop, I'm still rolling when the light turns green, helping me reach the next light without it turning red.
