I was reminiscing about my old job, and just remembered alot of people trashing their cars during lunch timeMan's got it down to science
Our building was at the bottom of a hill, and in 2021 they built a Starbucks in the middle of the hill. So literally 150 feet distance, but the parking lots weren't connected. Damn near all my coworkers,would wait a good 30 seconds to make a left hand turn into the intersection, drive a quarter mile southbound then wait another 30 seconds yielding to make a left hand turn to get to Starbucks. (And repeat the same process to make it back to work)
....Meanwhile, the high level office people and execs would cut through the grass, and get to Starbucks 2 minutes earlier. Not to mention bypassing the drive-thru queue which often times would take 10 to 12 mins to get their food
So my short sighted coworkers probably wasted a quarter gallon of gas which ain't that bad, but then you factor in brake pad wear, oil life, tire tread, transmission wear...it's alot of unaccounted damage they don't realize. Them fools trading in cars every 3 years rolling over loans, meanwhile we had a few street smart staff members driving Crown Vics, Lincoln Towncars & Mercury Grand Marquis they've had over 10 years straight still in pristine condition.
And besides that, there was an uncle, father and son who would pack their own lunch (they were "WOKE" type artsy Caucasians). It'd be 60-70 degrees outside and all 3 of em they'd sit in the car the whole time with the engine idling...for what? They'd listen to AM radio podcast type stuff, but why not just start the car up in accessory mode? They say that idling for an hour is the equivalent of driving 30 miles, so over the course of a year that's 4k "phantom" miles in terms of the engine wear
For what's it worth, they drove around in a Plymouth Grand Voyager, not the worst vehicle to idle in but not really the best either. They had a distinct "aroma" you could smell from 20 ft away, I guess the combination of a 22 year old van that had never been detailed, burnt up motor oil, and natural deodorant they got from the "CoExist" store.

Looking at immigrants, alot of times they'll have one car being shared by a whole household. Either they all work at the same job and carpool together or they coordinate it to where when a 1st shift job gets off, he goes home and drops off the car for somebody with a 2nd shift job.
It's kind of wild we got to the point historically where everybody is expected to have a car, especially being 5 years removed from COVID when folks was content staying at home & pursuing remote employment...it's almost like all that never happened.
Honestly if we went back to 1920s culture where only wealthy people could afford cars that would be best.
Lower Middle class people tend to:
Drive without insurance & let their registration expire
Chronically be late for work, hence speeding, running red lights
Defer maintenance, bald tires, squealing brakes, driving with 1 headlight
and Cause accidents based upon above factors

I get what you are saying, but as a car enthusiast, there is NO FREAKING WAY I'm ever giving up my car, especially my "fun" car. Not gonna happen. I'm the kind who doesn't skimp on maintenance of their vehicles, but I know people who do and it's insane. And you wonder why some still want yearly state inspections. I don't want to share the road with some jalopy that is help together with zip ties and duck tape and who's riding with no brake pads and work out rotors. Car is a literal death machine.
With the whole remote work, I blame the corporations. They said it was cheaper to have them all remote so they didn't need the large rent/mortgage payments of offices. Then the higher ups came up with the whole "people aren't productive at home and are not actually working" BS, even though productivity was better. I can tell you that in auto sales, RFH isn't an option, but the amount of BSing around the showroom by the old heads in the morning was insane. Like the first hour was making coffee and just gabbing about nonsense.
For people who you say are constantly late, that's a work ethic thing. When I was working, j constantly got to the showroom an hour earlier than my shift. Just now I was brought up. Now that changed as my medical disease worsened, but I still got there albeit 15 minutes early. But some people just don't feel the need to arrive early.
Sadly this is what this administration has done to the country. Make daily life unlivable, unfulfilling and unremarkable. Some days I wish it was all a dream but sadly it isn't. And until he's gone (McDonald's Bic Macs, you have 1 freaking job) nothing will change and those who voted for him, the toothless wonders and bottom IQ dumbasses, will never accept they were duped.

Took delivery of my 2 new toys last Saturday. '07 Lincoln Town Car & 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88. It was $84 to fill up the Lincoln & $42 to fill up the Olds

First time filling up since March and premium is $5.19 in my hood. Up from $4.79 a couple months ago.

50 got me almost half way on the cargo van from E.
Haven’t driven in a min & don’t even read the prices anymore but that’s up from the 80 for a full tank last year.

posting in here. Our President feels our pain even when he says he doesn’t care. He’s 20 moves ahead of us and we just have to trust da process. Sure I borrow my wife’s EV at times but I’d pay way more if it means that NT remains free

I’m about to fill up after work (at the 75% mark). The last time I filled my car up from half a tank was $42.00. So 75% is my new fill up point.
