Didn't think this warranted a new thread, as the last poster in Paris attack thread said, just merge everything into one mass murder thread. Anyways, this is a repost from said thread:

Multiple people were killed and others injured in at least one shooting in Munich’s city center late Friday. Police were unable to say how many people were killed or whether reports of multiple shootings were accurate.

Witness accounts indicated there was more than one attacker. Munich police said signs point to a shooting “rampage” and that they didn’t know where the attackers are.

German media has reported multiple casualties and a large police presence at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping center. A police spokeswoman said the shopping center was being evacuated and that the perpetrator or perpetrators were possibly still in or near the building. The first emergency call came in at 5:53 p.m. local time, she added.

Munich Transit Agency said all subway, bus, and tram service has been halted.

The attack would be the second in less than a week in Germany. An ax-wielding 17-year-old Afghan migrant wounded four people in an attack on a regional train near Wuerzburg on Monday evening.

Just change thread title to mass shootings thread.
Unfortunately this aint the end of it.

We are too damaged mentally and in spirit. If we cant all agree that each life, no matter how different, is important, then my avy will be more than a photoshop job.

****, one of my old coworkers is on vacation in Berlin, and his hotel is like 3 blocks from where the shooting happened. Madness around there right now. Hope the police catch the shooters without anyone else being shot.

Holy ****, bad typo on my end :lol No idea why Berlin popped into my mind. Anyways, he posted pics on Facebook of his view of the police around there and rushing by his hotel.

Like 30 minutes before the shootings he put up pictures and a Welcome to Munich tag. Scary times.

Munich "citizen" checking in: status is safe.

I was on the train into the city to play pick-up ball when it stopped in the tunnel and the announcement came over the PA that there's an incident at Stachus. Turned out to be a false alarm.

Train went back to Ostbahnhof and waited ca. an hour there to get back home (I live outside the city). Lots of armed cops but no panic.

P.S. too much media coverage right now. I don't know what to follow...

Peace,
F Sharp005

They need their own thread.

Just by lumping them into one thread its as if you're saying they're a dime-a-dozen rather than serious events that need full individualized attention.  Yes, they are becoming more common and thats why putting them into one thread is bad. It is an admission that this is becoming normal, just another in a series of events.

Nope. We need remind ourselves that these shouldn't be normalized in the West (or anywhere else for that matter). The trend needs to be reversed not accepted as a new part of life.

The house of the perpetrator has been searched and zero links to ISIS were found. The neighbors told the police neither the killer or his family ever talked about religion or gave the impression they were deeply religious. He had no history with the police.

What they did find in the apartment is signs of a strong obsession with violence. Apparently he idolized Anders Breivik, the guy who committed that massacre on Utøya, Norway
