Giants VS. Twins Series Thread......

Head to the Giants season thread.

And we know our team, there's a very good chance we don't win this series.

twins win every game. cant stop a team that has been this hot recently

I'd rather get some banter going in here.... ya feel me? Somewhere neutral

The Twins have been playing a lot better lately. At any time though it could take a turn for the worst where they'd be playing like the worst team in baseball again

When you're playing guys like Rene Tosoni, Luke Hughes, Drew Butera, and Rene Rivera on a daily basis, things have to not go your way at some point. It's inevitable. Also, I haven't updated the season thread in ages because it seems like since I've stopped they have been playing a whole hell of a lot better. To be honest, I feel uncomfortable even mentioning the thread thinking it will cause some rift in the team's performance

Even though the Giants just had a bad series, you still have Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain (I think Cain) going in the series. They are both Aces and are also unknowns to the Minnesota hitters. The advantage is yours.

yeah i think the momentum is going to run out pretty soon. hopefully nishioka and joe can pick up some of the slack for this week, then span, kubel, and thome should be back after the Milwaukee series. However i am cautiously optimistic, given the way baker, blackburn, and liriano have been pitching. i'd say the twins take 2 of 3 in this series

Pitching Matchups...

Tuesday
Carl Pavano (4-5, 4.20 ERA) vs. Madison Baumgardner (3-8, 3.21 ERA)
Wednesday
Nick Blackburn (6-4, 3.16 ERA) vs. Ryan Vogelsong (4-1, 1.92 ERA)
Thursday
Brian Duensing (4-6, 4.82 ERA) vs. Tim Lincecum (5-6, 3.39 ERA)

I believe so too, but we hope not, right?

I was pretty high on Tsuyoshi Nishioka coming into the season, but what has he shown? I mean, really? I haven't seen much of anything from him yet (before he was injured and now after he's returned). He remains a question mark to me.

*Take pictures rck.

As much as you are pessimistic about your team, our team seems to have been playin with only half the starters since opening day.

Our offense? Shoot, we can make ANY pitcher look like a multiple Cy Young winner.

JPZ, alright my dude.....we are coming off of a season low losing to the lowly A's......but what the hell.

I'll take a little action. Nothing crazy though as I genuinely believe the Twinkies will win the series. But I will roll with my squad.
http://twinsgeek.blogspot.com/2011/06/pavano-vs-thieving-giants.html

Pavano vs The Thieving Giants
Despite giving up more baserunners than last year, Carl Pavano has been stingier with base-stealers. Last year, he gave up 31 stolen bases in 33 games, while he's given up just 10 in his fourteen starts.

That difference is due, in part, to a change the Twins made last year in response to teams running crazy against Pavano - Drew Butera became his personal catcher. That will undoubtedly NOT be the case tonight. with the Twins playing in a National League park, the only way Joe Mauer makes his way into the starting lineup is as the starting catcher.

So I'll be paying special attention to how Pavano and the Twins react to any Giants that make their way to first base. It could be that Pavano has made some adjustments to better hold runners. It could be that Mauer has recovered enough over the last couple of months to close the defensive gap between he and Butera. And it bodes well that the Giants don't have a single player in double-digits with steals.

You can bet the coaching staff and front office will be paying special attention to that, too. Injured players are getting healthier. One of the healthy players left with options is Butera. It would make that decision a lot easier if Pavano and Mauer can work together to control the opposition's running game.

GAME ONE PREDICTIONS:

Madbum will go 7 strong giving up no runs.

Giants hitters will go 0-3 with runners in scoring position.

Pavano will go 8 strong and give up 4 hits, 1 walk, 6 K's.

Twins will score late because of the speed of Alexi Casilla.

Twins win 2-0.

Giants fans that think the Twins will win this series....

You guys know that Justin Morneau, Jim Thome, Jason Kubel, and Denard Span are all injured right?

I have confidence in BenRevRun though.

i say Giants win the series, 2-1. all 3 close games. lets get em

Since it will be hot in the bay this week I'm hoping that the bats will heat up to score 4-5 runs or something but when it gets hot AT&T plays small so I'm not sure if that will be good cause to ask this offense to get into a slug fest is comical. But if this team can pull out a performance like they did in St. Louis that would be ideal. Also we got swept by the A's so I don't care who the Twins are missing on offense.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they sweep the Twins out of town.

I can play that game too.  We are one of the worst offenses in the Major Leagues and we are missing Buster Posey, Freddie Sanchez and have a coming off injury Pablo.

Should be a good series. (I hope)
