Do any of y'all guard them?

For some reason, I guess guys at the gym feel like it's a disgrace and embarrassing to guard a female. *kanyeshrug*

I, myself love guarding them though, just to mess with them and piss them off. I always give them space and pretend that i'm letting them shoot... then BAM, swat their !*!+!

Some girls get mad, and some girls actually like it that I don't treat them any different. Matter of fact, I remember a couple months ago, there was this girl that kept going to the gym, and I actually roughen her up on the court. Come to find out, she finally made the basketball team after getting cut 3 years straight.

She thanked me a few weeks ago, when she came back in.

Who else is with me? Or am I solo on this one?

I would say it depends on how good the girls were.

3 years and 30 pounds ago, when I used to still play pickup daily, the gym I used to go would have D1 women's college players come in for pickup games in their off-season.  That being said, I took it a little more seriously when they came through and gave more effort.  Some guys would just slack off and get lit up, but had the "Nah, I wasn't playing seriously anyways" line ready.  

The reverse was true; if there were girls that came through and they didn't really play at a certain level then I slacked off.  Just my $0.02

I don't guard them because

A. Don't want to get hard in public
B. If you KILL them, you are "picking" on them
C. If you GET killed, then you get laughed out

So don't guard them, either way you lose.

There's a girl at my local gym that has a pretty damn good jumper...Not gonna give her space though.

I know a chick that would DEFINITELY give most of you dudes in here the business. Her name is Nicki Teasley, used to play for UNC. If you saw her play in real life you'd know what I mean. She only played with chicks during the basketball season, other than that it's always with dudes. She's around 6' is not skinny, and has handles for days. She will break your ankles if you get caught slippin. She had some personal issues that prevented her from dominating like she could have.

Idk man, I actually hooped with some SMAC league girls when I was a senior in high school - there was this one girl named Ashley who would spot up at the elbow area of the 3's, just dropping every shot she took. You couldn't even guard her. She didn't move. Somebody would inbound the ball, she would run up court, cut around half court and than just wait til' someone spotted her at the elbow and feed her the ball. I remember her making 6-6 from the outside, putting the game away easy. Probably the nicest shot I ever seen a chick have. She was a gun.

I've seen some big girls down low who banged with dudes too. If a girl is brave enough to step on the court with 9 other dudes, believe me you - she ready to be guarded.

ehh i dont mind if the guard me, i'll jus play with em, i'm too strong, fast and good for them to bother me on defense. I dont like to check them tho, for the same reason given. I dont wanna hurt them, but i aint lettin em cook me if they can. besides i like to check the best player on the other team anyway.

i havent really played a lot of ball in my advanced age (and cause i suck and im lazy) but I always said that playing ball against girls is a lose lose situation for the reasons DC just stated.

That being said, if they were on the court and I had to play, I'm opting for Option B.  I hate to lose.  I'd rather be clowned for goin too hard against a chick than for losing to one.  I mean... if a 5'4 120lb girl wants to guard me, why wouldnt I just post up 100% of the time and bully her out of there?  I'm not tryin to sit on the outside and shoot jumpers just cause its bad form to roughouse a chick.

Happens a lot at my school's gym. It's either D her up like a dude and feel like an %@+@#@+, or play off of her and if she scores you'll never hear the end of it. I usually try and avoid having to be the one matched up against a girl for those reasons

Played with some fine chicks in the hood that could really ball. Loved it when they'd try to post me up, mad contact. Touch a titty when they pull up to shoot.

As for average broads who can ball, treat them like dudes.

If it's clear right away that she has game, I'll play her just like anyone else. But if it's clear that she's basically a spot-up shooter and nothing else, I ease up a little bit, if I'm guarding one, I'll just put my hands up and 99% of the time it'll be a miss. Especially when you're playing with friends, you don't want to be a jerk either.

around my way when the girls from the local college come to play the intensity level goes down 99.9%.  most people just leave when they say they have next.  one time i hung around just to play and they needed me to make 10, the girl i was guarding tried to post me up and i felt like she was dancing on me at the club, needless to say they finished the game playing 5 on 4.  i really wish one day i could run into a girl who could really play and keep the intensity level up, but the taurasi, maya more, etc., are few and far between.  to find a girl that good you would have a better chance putting a fire out with gas and wood.

i guarded the star player(at the time) for my college's hoop team. i swatted her so bad when she spotted up for a 3 at the top that it went backcourt and i had a free layup.
