they destroy your credit. you probably won't get a credit card abroad. and you mightttt be arrested if you come back to the states.

an overly patriotic American will come in this thread and will say " you're the reason this country is in trouble"

Depending on where you go, extradition buddy boy. But it will just kill your credit for a very very long time.

what?

yes.  if there's a warrant out on you and you return to the states and are found you're going to be detained.

OP is mexican so he prolly has dual citizenship. i thought going off the grid meant just using solar power because of this weeks simpsons episode where homer buys a windmill

That depends on a few things but it appears from what others who have gone through this, its generally not that case and you can start new. Also its not concrete whether or not you will be arrested as soon as you come back either. Definitely not if you dont have a bench warrant.

I thought this thread was about living in the wilderness..

Being rational =/= being overly patriotic

Thanks for editing your post. "

" is really informative. I assume you ran up a bunch of credit card debt and are leaving the country to get out of paying it off??? You do realize that you don't need to repay unsecure debt, right? Hence, the reason it is termed "unsecure." Too many morons try to cut corners and pull a fast one any time they have a chance. If you don't care about repaying your debt on some philosophical level, why don't you just not pay it back? Stop trying to make it complex.

P.S. You driving across the boarder? Or paying straight cash for a plane ticket?
