Hearing a lot about the gun violence in Chicago is making me nervous about this trip I have planned with my family for labor day weekend. Where should I avoid? Planning on going to a Sox game, Cubs game, eating some deep dish pizza and checking out a bunch of stores, anything I should be wary of? thanks in advance NT

Don't take a millions pics while in the south side of Chicago Terrence

you're good. Don't let these soft nter scare you. Been to Chicago more times than I can remember. All over too. Not just downtown. As long as you're not rocking a 6 point star or a pitchfork and have common sense you're fine. Nt loves to act like Chicago is Somalia.

You did say your goin to a sox game, they play on the south side.

But just go there, mind your business and have fun and no one will bother you

Well it aint just NT, it's the news and media too but what parts of the city are safe/not safe to visit?

Oh i see, well I def wont be hanging around before or after the game!

You flying in? If you're staying downtown make sure you don't get off the blue line too early or you'll be in the hood. It's not that bad. Just saying.

Just stay away from parts of the south side and the west side. You'll know if you're in a foul spot and honestly you'll most likely not be there since you'll have no reason to go there. It's alot better than it used to be anyway. I got lost once in project row before they tore it down

You'll be fine bro.  The only real advice I would give you that may not be common sense to people visiting from other places is to wear your hat either straight to the front or straight to the back.  Having your hat cocked to one side or the other, even just a couple of inches, is one of the surest ways to get approached with some !!$%!%@+.  Also, make sure your hats don't have any five-point or six-point stars or pitchforks on them (e.g., throwback Mariners, Arizona State, etc.).

Other than that, everything else is pretty much common sense...

Stay away from the cops. They'll rob you in a heartbeat. All up in your pockets.

The taste is downtown chicago. Very packed and hot. Stop being scared

Dont trip i was deep in the southside, at this like drive through corner store!!! and walked down a few blocks.....Real talk though people out in the streets on the southside and the cops just be posted on the corners...........MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT OBAMAS HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you're downtown your fine. Honestly Chicago is a decently safe city. Don't go trolling around looking like a stranger at 2am in the Southside. Every major city has a bad spot, and the southside is Chicagos. Any touristy areas are usually 99.9% safe.

All the stuff you listed above is in safe areas of Chicago, your family is going to have a great time.
