No need to get technical with it son, self powered is what makes the speaker #$++. Point blank you aint getting no good sound relying on your headphone jack for power. And this is comin from someone with a "POS car setup"

You just proved how smart you are. Self powered means you don't need external amplification(receiver) since they already have an integrated amp.

Yeah, enjoy those swan speakers.

game, set and match.

"wtfux is a 'passive' and an 'active'?!?!?"

it's all good though, i always pair up tards and JL riders in the same ignore category anyways...im guessing neesh got all his audio equipment from bestbuy and had it installed there by their "skilled" technicians as well

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

PS - JAYYYY ELLLLLLLLL W-SEVVEENNNNNN i am now the car audio **%%!! any RE or Mag will shut you down.

OP if you don't want anything expensive just go to bestbuy or wal-mart and get whatever fits your budget.
You can get whatever speakers you want but they won't sound that good if you have a stock soundcard installed in your computer

Or if you find some older Klipsch Promedias
I have the 2.1 also. Great sound, and the bass is nice.

ya overheating in the sub was always an issue. my brother's 5.1 bounced on him with the quickness. klipsch customer care hooked him up though.he got a GMX 5.1 set after that's still living today.

luckily for me i've only had to replace the audio control pod (another issue) on my 4.1 set.

i got sumthin like these Cyber Acoustics...they get the job done at school n i got em wild cheap on the bay for under like $30-40

Weren't the promedias discontinued?

OP should look into the audioengine a2 or a5..depending on his budget

edit**

promedia 2.1 still available.

all other promedias are discontinued.

oh i forgot i had a pair of harman/kardon soundstick II

those looked crazy and worked well too..

I dunno Monday....in terms of bang for the buck, you're not gonna do much better than the Z5500...I picked up my set for $250 off Amazon..You'd be hardpressed to find something that has all of the same features at that price, and still sounds good.

I had never even heard of Swans until this thread, and I can hardly find any information on them.

Just keep in mind that he asked for good computer speakers, and the z5500 works just fine...especially for $250...
