So i have been seeing a couple car related post and started thinking, what would define a good driver? Reflexes? Instinct? capabilities?
I for instance can squeeze through narrow slots on the freeway, take turns at high speed and maneuver through obstacles and traffic at ease, and read some drivers intentions and react before they have a chance to make the first move. But i feel that doesnt make me a good driver, imo a good driver shouldn't be too aggressive or selfish while driving, also i lack patience(i commute monday through friday, and usually have 50 mins to make an hour drive though).

What are your guys thoughts and opinions on what a traits would qualify someone as a good driver?

I think I'm a great driver. My friends and mother disagree.

Everyone thinks I'm a great driver, except my gf. She gets anxiety issues when she's in the passenger seat.

never got in an accident before, or speeding tickets, or tickets in general (excluding parking tickets). Only been driving for 5 years though so no that credible yet. I can drive and eat food with 2 hands

Used to work delivering pizza so think that helped a lot (got a lot of miles under me)

Dont ever drink and drive , you might hit a  speed bump and spill your drink

Responsible (speeding, lane switching, no texting and driving, etc etc) , BUT can make those difficult tight maneuvers when you need to get past a small patch of traffic or slow drivers.

At the end of the day if you don't have anything but parking tickets, don't get into accidents, or speed a lot, i'll let you drive me home if i'm too drunk to drive.

Patience, obeying the road laws, sharing the road, courteus, and safety conscious.

great offense and defense. no matter how careful you are, there is always a smuchk out there donig something reckless. I have avoided many close encounters b/c people don't pay attention.

Dude nobody says that. If you mean "I drive best when I'm high" that's a different story.
My driving skill and ability = A+

My willingness to adhere to traffic laws, respect other drivers and share the road  = D-

ahh brings me back to my stupid young teenager days. My preferred technique was to stick my hands and wrists through the steering wheel, roll with the fingers, steer automobile with wrists.

Drives fast
Uses turn signals for everything
Not selfish
Always alert (aware of traffic lights, signs, and surroundings)
Doesn't do stupid maneuvers that holds up traffic

I drive with my knees too. I think Im a good driver but a lot of people seem to think Im a bit crazy. I can see where someone with untrained eyes might get that

A good driver is one who is in control at all times and the passengers in the car should never feel uneasy or unsafe by any of your maneuvers.  The ride should be smooth...smooth acceleration and soft braking.   People who accelerate too hard and brake too often ruin it.  It is possible to slow down without breaking and defensive driving is a must.
