Got a new phone, is it okay to answer/place calls while charging?

I just got an LG Voyager, and the manual says "Do not place or answer calls while charging the phone as it may short-circuit the phone and/or causeelectric shock or fire".

Is this true? Is it that bad for a phone?

drain the battery till it's dead, then fully charge it. Do it a couple of times. Supposedly it helps the battery life over the long run.

I'm pretty sure you can still make calls though.

The phone will instantly burst into flames and burn 1/3 of your face off if you even dare touch it while its charging.
