 Don't get me wrong, TU is fine. Learned a lot from there in terms of academics but it's too far since it's an hour away from me and I commute...

UMD is a 15 min drive for me. And overall, UMD is a better school.

Don't let yourself get into that same lackadaisical attitude now that you're in. Based on the determination you've exhibited that most likely won't be a problem though.

Bruh, UMD is pretty prestigious IMP as far as state schools go. Fairly difficult to get into as well.

I would've gone but that out of state tuition is brutal. Very happy with me choice though (location check)

I didn't apply myself in high school. Went to community college and eventually excelled. I transferred to UCLA and will graduate in June. A kid with a 2.0 GPA in high school, now I'm surrounded by geniuses.

It's never too late. Make those dreams a reality

All these stories are proof that once you're in college anything you did academically in high school barely even matters anymore. It's what you do once you're in college, any college, that matters.

For all you high school NTers don't give up just because you figure your high school GPA will dictate the rest of your academic career and eventual career. You can step it up and transfer to better schools like OP and a few others, or you could slack and end up losing the advantage you gained in high school.

Libraries, technology, transportation, free sports tickets, etc...
As far as academics go, the school offers all of the tools you would need to succeed, and it certainly seems like you have the mindset to take advantage of them.

-Networking with your professors. BIG!

Go to office hours, have conversations with them, if they see you trying to go good in there class and are focused. They will be down to help you. Especially since a lot of them got people emailing them asking about students to fill their job/internships. The job market around the area is so there is no reason why you shouldn't land something coming right out if you play your cards right.

-The career center is amazing too. Go too the big job fair that will happen early in the year.

-Lots of clubs where you can connect and network too.

^^The networking aspect is huge. It's not like the school is in Montana or something. You have one of the biggest business hubs in the world in your backyard. You never know who your professors/classmates/etc could know. Take advantage of it, and don't ever be scared to talk to people.

I know it's not some prestigious school but after getting rejected during my HS years for slacking and not taking things seriously,

I decided to work my *** off at Towson and decided to try one more time.

Congrats , just wondering why you wanted to leave Towson? I graduated from there and loved the school, my sis went to UMD college park and had about the same experience as me . Obviously umd is a larger and more recognized school.

Thanks. There's a couple reasons why but the main reasons were:

1. I commute. Towson is an hour drive and I been driving 1 hour (not including traffic on 695 

) for the past 2 years and im just so sick of it.

2. UMD is by far a better school in terms of ranking and status. Much more appealing on a resume.

3. To prove myself and everyone who doubted me from highschool.
