GRADUATE STUDENTS OF NT

As an alumni of Graduate Students of NT, I am sharing with you guys that I am 1 for 1. My first interview was yesterday, and I just got the call offering me the position.
Idk if I'm going to accept it yet. I plan on talking to a few more places before I make my decision.
Plus, I still have to pass my license exam, which is on this Monday coming up.

You dudes continue to push forward, and I wish you all the best of luck this semester.
can we get some more info on what you're trying to attain.

Aye bros, since "student loans" is a "good debt" , I dont owe much for undergrad but my job offers tuition reimbursement but it will still leave about 1-2k that I would need to foot bill for including books, lol I`m thinking about just taking out an extra 1.5-2k each year because I`ll prob only come out 8-10k in debt from Grad school which still isnt bad, thoughts?

I wouldn't call it "good debt" these days since there are NO subsidized loans anymore. Which means you are paying interest on the ENTIRE YEAR AMOUNT on the day of the 1st semester disbursement (don't think I don't see this Fed Govt). That and the interest rate has remained fixed even though the "prime" rate has done nothing but fall for the last 5 years. I have a separate private student loan from a bank and the rate is much lower than the standard 6.8%

For only a couple grand a year, I'd try and foot the bill without taking out loans. Buy used books from Amazon or half.com

Hope the semester is going well for everyone ...

Got my first test back... 82... I think I'm gonna pull off an A... just need that fire...

Other class... not so sure...

BUT... I got another part time job at a credit union... I'm hoping I can finagle that into something substantial.

InternshipProgram with ATT fell thru so I'm still searching.

Well Brethren of the Graduate Students of NT, It is decision season for those who applied to the Fall Semester this year.

As I have already stated earlier in the thread, I have already been accepted by U Penn. I just found out this morning that I was accepted by NYU. It's a great, scary, and overwhelming experience. Just for those who want to know, I am going to get my Ed. M/ M. A (depends on the school) in Mental Health and School Counseling (Again, slightly varies by school).

It is safe to say I am more so excited than anxious, but wow. Feels Good. :smokin

Good luck to everyone! To everyone already in Grad programs, keep moving forward.

any March's in here? im getting my bachelors in a couple of months. working for a year then pursuing my masters in architecture. I hear Oregon, Iowa, Arizona, Chicago are great places to apply

Sorry for the late response.

I received my master degree in occupational therapy. I also passed the national license exam earlier this month. I'm just waiting on my state license to come in so I can start working.

For those wondering, as an occupational therapist, I will work with individuals with disabilities or various diagnoses and teach them adaptive strategies or help them regain the skills necessary to complete functional tasks such as dressing, bathing, toileting, functional mobility, cooking, caring for themselves, caring for others, etc.

Feel free to hit me up if you have other questions.

Well first I would suggest you talk to a counselor in the psych dept and figure out a path to attain your BA, no it's not difficult at all, it's a lot of info and theories but overall if you read and study you'll be fine.

I currently work at a group home for physically and mentally abused kids, I'm an individual rehabilitation specialist, I'm sort of a therapist and behaviorist

Any more questions, I can help you out, tell you where I messed up so hopefully you can't

I want this so bad for the mean time.

How did you get that job without your masters.

And how are you going back to boost your gpa when are already graduated

No test in grad school...all papers.

:pimp:

This is how my Graduate Program was. All papers and Major Group Project/Presentations

However in order to graduate we had to take a Comprehensive Exam. It was info from some of the classes that you took in your Program from Day 1.

looking to get into graduate school and get my masters. anyone know where i could go about doing that? i want to be a graphic designer and i live in bergen county in jersey

I know for my M.S. we MUST have a Thesis plan accepted and you MUST have a professor take you on before you can even be admitted into the program. So next week I have to convince one of the many professors in my program to take me on. This means I have to read through their CV and read the key points in their careers and schmooze :x

aren't you engineering? as far as i know you can work towards your masters on a non thesis track. im sure it depends on what school it is, since not all schools are the same.

ive been working for a year now, but looking to change jobs (im an ee btw). considering grad school also, but would like to get hired at a spot that reimburses tuition.

Business School peeps:

How many of y'all went directly to grad. school after undergrad? I'm having trouble finding a position in the fields I'm interested in. (real estate finance/investment/development, and investments) So I'm thinking about going directly to grad school if I can get into a top program. I know it can be hard to get into an elite program without much professional experience.

What's good fam,

Have any of you been successful in asking your employer to pay for your tuition, if not a portion, for school? I had an informal discussion about taking some Continuing Education courses and my President was all for it.

He asked me to draft a proposal and the senior team would evaluate it. It's roughly 4 courses in total for about $6000, excluding books, housing, etc.

My question is besides showing added value for my company in the long term, what else would you think I should be mentioning in my letter?

Honestly man it's incredibly hard to get into a top program unless you have an ridiculously stellar undergrad ( I'm talking perfect grades, a lot of extracurriculars and meaningful ones with leadership positions, have your own business etc).
Your just going to have to put in work, most people will have trouble finding a job in their specific field straight out of college. You'll just have to find something business related and turn that into opportunities in the future in your desired field. I'm international business and I am currently working at AT&T in retail sales and before that in hertz's manager trainee program because I plan on going back to grad school in order to get my foot in the door internationally or with a multinational company. Good luck!

Graduated in May with my MS in Finance from Pace and MBA from Dowling (crazy I did 2 did graduate programs at the same time)....Been looking for a position in finance, ideally investment/asset management, but the market was flat all of 2012.  Once 2013, things picked up, hopefully I'll land something soon....

Good luck bro how long it took you to finish the programs?

That post grad struggle.... :x

Hoping I can land something solid before I finish....

It's looking bleak...

Have you tried any leadership development programs?

Anyone doing a grad program for Information Systems or a related field? What was your experience like?

Graduated from undergrad this past December, been working fulltime for a little over a month, but already getting bored lol. Gonna try to stick it out for 1-2 years. Was going to try looking into other companies, but thought about school as well.
