Hairline Question

But when I get a fresh cut/shape up, it's straight across. My friend told me that it is because my barber is pushing my hairline back and that I should tell the barber to outline my natural hairline or else he will keep pushing my hair back and back and back.

Going back to the U example of my line, what I don't understand is, if the barber cuts straight along the two points of the U, will my hair get pushed back?

How low are you getting your cut that you don't notice if he's pushing your hairline back or not?

You have a widow's peak, and your barber is probably cutting straight across.

Obviously a white guy, but you can still see how his hairline has a distinct point in the front and not straight across

And this is exactly why I dropped my barber and started doing my own cuts. Best decision I made this year.

The whole "permanently pushing your hairline back" is a myth.
Yes if you get shape ups too often (weekly) your barber would have to shape it up a little bit behind your natural hairline to make it look sharp but if you ease up on how frequent you get shape ups it will grow back. its hair.
