Dang....I wish I had seen this post you had....Haitian Embassy was taking donations yesterday....if anything, call over there and see if they arestill accepting drop offs.
from my post in General...
So I got an email at work earlier in the week saying that clothing donations were going to be taken at the Haitian Embassy on the 17th between 11-4. The emailwas VERY specific about the types of clothing they wanted for donations. T-Shirts, socks, flip-flops, diapers, insect repellent, first aid kits, etc etc.....Irounded up a bunch of things and headed over to the embassy thinking it would be a quick drop off. Boy, was I wrong....seems like ALL of DC came out to donate(which was a great thing). It was a mad house at the embassy, and Massachusetts Ave was gridlocked for about 3-4 miles. And in a city, that takes FOREVER to gothe length of one block. I knew of a couple of backstreets, and it took a grand total of about 2 hours for me to leave my house, navigate around DC, and thenmake the drop. That being said, I saw a lot of things that made me
at. Forone, a lot of people used this as a way to clean out their closets and nothing more...you saw folks dropping off evening gowns and @!%! like that. I understandthat you are trying to do something out of the goodness of your heart, but damn....follow the +!++@*+ directions as far as KNOWING what to drop off....anyways,let's keep this going and please help anyway you can.
