However, a resume with mediocre formatting can cost you the interview if you're borderline.
Especially industries where detail work and due diligence are things employers look for (consulting, finance, etc.).
Make sure those dates/cloumns are perfectly aligned, no typos, and all formatting is consistent. Also, do not use pre-packaged templates. Other people will usethese and it becomes painfully obvious. Take a template you like and improvise on it.
If you want to know where to start,look at other people's resumes in the industry you are applying.
And Engineering resume will not look like an Accounting resume or a Investment Banking resume or a Graphics Designer resume. Different industries look fordifferent things.
Some industries want more technical detail and skill based resumes. Other want it end result/project based with $$$ amounts.
