HARD DRIVE HELP

I HAVE WESTERN DIGITAL PORTABLE HARD DRIVE --- IT MAKES THE LIL " CLICKING" SOUND WHEN I PLUG IT INTO MY LAPTOP, BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW UP ON MY LAPTOP & I CAN'T ACCESS IT.

i had the same problem a few months ago. i hope you backed up your data because you won't be able to recover it on your own. i sent it to a lab and they were able to recover almost everything on it. the only snag is that it cost about $2000. good luck. i hope it's not as bad for you.

FIRST. are you using the cord it came with. If you use a longer one it wont have enough power to start the hard drive then you hear the clicking.
IF you are using the short cord it came with then *kanye shrug* sorry.

i tried using the og "short cord" and a longer cord and same problem, it makes the "clicking noise every 5minutes-but thats about it

credit cards.  it hurt like you wouldn't believe but there were about 10GB of pics and about 15GB of songs.  the pics were of my wedding and basically every pic of my kids since they were born.  lesson learned:  back up that stuff on cds or use carbonite.com.  for a small monthly fee they back up all your stuff.

^lesson learned is multiple backups.
