Was pleasantly surprised to see that the whole mini series is up on HBO On Demand. For The Wire diehards, I guarantee that you will enjoy this show. A lot of the same actors. Same backdrop. Similar content. I'm pretty sure this series is what actually prompted the development of the Wire. Check it out. For all those that have seen it, what were your thoughts and opinions.

i had no idea that boy Fresh was in this..

i'll check it out when i get the chance.

yup this has alot of the cast in roles that will surprise you..

this was a really good mini series only 6 episodes too, i watched this last month all of em in one day.

its also based on this family's problems with drugs and all the misery it brings..
that was cool at the end when they showed the family it was based on.

do i have to have alot of background knowledge on The Wire (its on my list of shows to watch i swear to God) before diving in?

This is a pretty good show. It might be a little hard for some people to get into it, but it's an amazing story nonetheless.

Not at all. This was released in 2000. It just has a lot in common with The Wire - actors, writers, Baltimore, addiction...doesn't really matter what order you watch.

I just finished The Wire last night. I'll check this out.

Huge fan of the Wire and I never seen The Corner :{. Just finished the 1st episode and I'm hooked.

The corner is a mini series that was made before The Wire, by the same guy who did The Wire. It has some of the same actors and encompasses basically the same environment(baltimore) but its two seperate shows(not a prequel). So no you don't have to watch one to understand the other.

That said, I highly recommend it, great show.

Just seen the first episode and this **** is mad depressing
what do you expect? this is about drugs and the devastation it has on families and communities.

Yeah, this is a tough series to watch. The Wire deals with drugs in a broad societal sense whereas The Corner deals with drugs within the family context. It would be like if Season 4 of The Wire focused almost exclusively on Duke's or Michael's family...

Great series, though...

My mom was an extra in one of the episodes, never seen the series though

It was a dope serious.. Opened up my mind...

Like a long *** episode of Intervention...

This and add on to the fact that the wire had some comedic relief whereas the first two episodes I've seen have been straight despair

same actors, not characters

Actually, after re-watching episode 1 for the first time in a while, there are some of the same characters believe it or not.

Officer Bob Brown is one.

I swear I heard them refer to "Hungry Man" too. He's a re-occurring character on The Wire as well.

I'm re-watching the whole series so I'll keep my ears and eyes peeled for more similarities.
