[ HELP ] Dying Foamposite Bottoms Black

I recently ( just now ) tried to dye my foam bottoms black using the paint brush method. Where you mix the dye with hot/boiling water and paint it with a brush onto the bottoms. You let it dry and repeat until they are BLACK. I tried this method exactly how you're suppose to and it showed no difference. Is there a reason it did not work? I dont understand why the dye didn't dye the bottoms. PLEASE HELP!
