So I have a virus and need to restore my computer unless I can get it fixed. I start up my computer and I get a "spyware alert" window before mywindows even loads saying worm.win32.netsky detected on your machine. Even if I x out of it, my windows will not load and all I get is a black screen. Any wayto fix that? Or how can I restore? I don't remember my computer coming with a restore dvd/cd. I'm running windows vista

boot it in safe mode and try to do a windows system restore

restore it to the last know good configuration

or try that dvd you got

either way boot it in safe mode

if youre talking restore to factory settings and NOT windows system restore -

if you bought this comp, youre going to need to use the restore disc it came with, its also possible that theres a restore function on your comp right before windows boots up (my Gateway has one) that doesnt need a disc

if you built youre comp, youre going to need to reinstall windows

Unfortunetly I don't have the cd/dvd. I tried doing it under safe mode but it says I have to contact my administrator cuz I'm under safe mode

"System restore has been turned off by group policy. To turn on system restore, contact your domain administrator. That's the message I'm getting.Any way around it?

watch your boot-up screen before windows starts to boot up, theyre might be a restore function there, right before any microsoft screens come up

If you know someone who has a Windows 7 DVD then I suggest you go get one and pop it in. Just make sure when you turn on the computer you bootfrom disk. Hold down F8 I think. Once the DVD boots, you'll go straight into the Windows 7 install menu. Once you get to the part where you have to decidewhich HDD to install to, make sure you format the partition that has your current OS running. After that you should be in the clear.

The same will work with any Vista install DVD.

Hope I was of some help
