my wife got an HP laptop thats similiar to that one, for $399.99 from best buy, 4gigs of ram, 320 hdd, built in webcam, all the same bells and whistles. But itstill had vista on it, and they offered to upgrade to windows 7 for an extra $40.00 ....i'd say ask them about such a deal.

Sony has slightly better specs than the HP even though the HP are better computers overall.

I'd say neither, keep looking you can find better deals than that.

DO NOT GET HP. One of their model lines is known to have a problem with a part and it causes the wireless card to stop working randomly. They don't botherto fix it. I basically have a $1100 laptop with no internet capabilities

Sony >>>>>>> HP. I work in a computer repair job, hardly ever see them in for hardware related issues. From what I've seen Gateway isthe worst, HP, Toshiba, Asus and Dell are somewhere in the middle. Sony and Apple seem to do pretty well as far as quality.

Between those 2: Sony
Better resolution screen, larger HDD, better graphics card, multitouch trackpad.

sony between those 2.

but i just got my HP DV7 3067 and i love it.

if anything, get a HP dv7 computer if you want HP.
