Have any of you gotten a laptop recently? I need some help picking out a laptop. I'm looking for a multi-purpose one with an Intel Core 2 Duo of at least2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM, and 7200 rpm HDD and with a decent video card all under $1500. I'll be watching movies, browsing the web, occasional gaming, etc. I've been looking at the Dell Studio XPS 16, Sony Vaio FW series, and Lenovo T500. I'm not sure which one to get. Any other suggestions would begreat. Thanks.

Lenovos are great computers. Not the best looking, but great performers.

If you're in school, i'd definitely get one. They're excellent computers for work/school. Batteries aren't that great in the long-run though.

with $1500, the sky's the limit nowadays. look into the HP HDX series. 1080p laptop screen

if Im dropping over 1K I need ATLEAST 15 inches

I have a Macbook, and honestly they are overrated. If I could do it all over again I would buy a 600 dollar laptop and pocket the 600. I like the free touchthough. That aside I will probably be getting a MAC again.

Well I would say Mac but $1500 isn't enough, so I would go with an HP laptop

refurbished Macbooks

damn this reminds me of one of them Windows v.s. Apple commercials

Nah he's not gonna want one of those. I cant speak on Lenovo but the XPS line is a good look.

Stay away from XPS line with Slot Loading CD/DVD drive...

Other than that....brand name means nothing if you're buying it from somewhere reputable.

Going to school? Take $200 and purchase a physical damage warranty to guarantee beer spills, drops, etc.

The battery life....change your power settings....and you'll get a free replacement battery under your warranty also.

Personal Preference........Toshiba Blue Label.....HP HDX Series......Lenovo (these computers last freakin' forever)
