Help with Bait & Switch on eBay

will this actually hold any value if somehow a court case occurred? never heard of anyone doing this before
Nope. Who's to say you didn't just take it back after filming is over? Who's to say you did redirect the package? There as absolutely NOTHING you can do protect yourself. And lets not forget the "item not as described" option try can choose, and then just send you a box of rocks. Possibilities to scam are endless. I wish I was a lying, thieving, ***** sometimes. Easy money left and right

Just went through this exact scenario last month.  Sold a $400 pair of Jordans, and seller contacts me through ebay and says, "How dare you think you're getting away with this!"  So I knew immediately he was going to pull the bait-n-switch scam.  He claimed I sent him adidas, I've never owned a pair of adidas in my life.  I had his number so I called several times, but he wouldnt answer.  I'm occasionally in his area, so I told him if his scam goes through, I'll swing by his house so we can chat in person.  Didnt matter, he left the claim open.  I called Paypal the same day the claim was opened and they said it shows a good sign when the seller calls them immediately and is willing to provide any details or info to assist in the case.  They did say, the buyer has to PROVE they received the wrong shoes.  (That was strange to hear, because ebay/paypal always side with the buyer).  But they said the responsibility would be on the buyer to prove the shoes I sent were wrong, and that could include him going to the police department and filing a police report.  That was great news to hear, since that now would involve him filing a false police report to for the law to get involved.  Anyways, long story, but after about one month, the case closed and Paypal voted in my favor.  It just sucked having $400 tied up, and the stress of dealing with a deadbeat.

Post his ebay info.

I'm going through a similar thing right now. Except in my case the guy requests a refund because he bought the wrong shoe or some **** like that. We go back and forth and then he finally tries to say they're fake and files a PP claim. I wrote a detailed response to PayPal and included links from JB and other sites. Now it's just a waiting game. I've been selling on eBay since 09 and I've never had an issue like this happen. Dude just joined in '11 and has 1 feedback. Hopefully this ends in my favor.

As soon as its done, I'm plastering his **** all over.

I'm almost certain LAPD doesn't handle ebay purchases.

I got burned once and PP told me to go to the station and get paperwork and they said they dont do internet and gave me their number for PP to call.

I'm pretty sure they don't. I think its just the fact that a listing has something posted regarding potential scammers that they would be more reluctant to try stuff with that seller because they know the seller is aware of them and the stuff they do and is willing to do something about it. I know if I was a scammer and I saw that in an auction I'd try someone else because someone putting a warning in their listing is more trouble then its worth to me.

I know that's the case with my Craigslist listings. I used to just post things and I'd get a bunch of scammers. As soon as I added "And lastly, scammers please stay away. I will not ship the shoes. I will not accept a money order from your assistant since you are overseas. I will not accept checks. Nothing. Don't waste my time" at the end of my listings, the scammers have been ghost.
