but anways. iight so, I got BOTH Comcast *Digital Cable and High Speed Internet. My computer is upstairs along with the modem and router, or whatever.. (lol).

and downstairs is my 360 along with the Comcast *Digital Cable box. I heard all I gotta do is connect that Ethernet cable from my 360 to the Comcast box, andBAM I get to play on LIVE. Well I guess its more complicated than that cuz it aint workin and I dont know wt f I'm doin!

When I test the connection it says IP FAILED.

My brother who lives in Boston told me his Comcast internet connection wasnt working. Perhaps, they're having an issue thats affecting many.

i think you need to connect the ethernet cord to the modem or router. Thats the way i have it setup for my cable/internet company which is COX.

and if that diesnt work you will need to unplug everything... modem/computer/360 and then plug and turn on one thing at a time.. modem, wait 5min.. then thencomp, wait, router, then the 360

You have to call them ... make them walk through it with you .

It won't let you have the same IP address for both your computer &nd 360 .

Call XBOX ... they'll make you go to like , start , run , then type something in ...

called Xbox. what they asked me to do didn't help anything... still, IP FAILED.
so they told me to call Comcast. Called THEM up and then THEY tell me to CALL Netgear.
So I called Netgear, guy gave me some numbers to put it, but still... IP FAILED.

What you have to do, Gary, is take the 360 apart. Once you do that, you need to cut the yellow wire, at that point you need to hook up the internet again. Thentype in the code 512341 (this will reset the IP) and then you need to reconnect the wire with some simple wiring techniques. After you have done that, take outthe hard drive and sit it outside over night. The cool air will cause it to rewire itself. Now tomorrow morning, right at 7:14 AM PST put the hard drive backin the system and turn the 360 on. Go through the original process and it should work. Good luck!

Yeah that's the same process I used when I got the IP error. Worked good.

are you connecting your xbox the the internet through a router?
cuz thats what usually causes closed NAT's

if you connect your ethernet cable from the 360 to the comcast modem there should be no problem at all. it should work. maybe your modem is defective? or youare banned from xbox live?

I don't think your digital cable box gets an internet connection. Try connecting the xbox to a router or the modem.

All you have to do is plug that grey XBOX cord up into your modem . Try to connect to XBOX Live . If it fails ... call the XBOX 1-800 number . They will thentell you that your IP is failing because Comcast / XBOX wants you to have two separate IP addresses for your computer and XBOX LIVE . When you talk to the XBOXrepresentative ... they will tell you to connect to the internet on your computer (or maybe just get on your computer). He will then tell you to go to start> run > ... &nd some more stuff . A screen will come up with numbers including your MAC address &nd IP address ... they will ask you to write thenumber down because you will have to enter it for future reference when you go back to your XbOX . He will then tell you to go back to your XBOX &nd go tothe settings you used to try &nd connect . You will then go to some type of advanced settings &nd enter the number you wrote down previously . Enter it... try to connect ... &nd it should work . I'm weird ... I really want it to work for you so call them &nd TRUST me it will work in like 5 minutes. Ultimately , the walk through should look something like what I just mentioned above . They should help you out ... stay on the phone with them until itworks .
