OMG i just got on nt to ask about comcast/xbox....i swear im bout to go crazy!!!

ok so before I copped a 360, my patna was tellin me all the *$#$ I need to be able to connect online. He told me I needed a wireless adapter. well I was at hishouse when he was tellin me all this, and I asked him if HE had one(wireless adapter). He was like, nahh. and so I was like then how are YOU connected?
He told me he has AT&T Internet as well as AT&T U-Verse digital cable. he said all he did was just connected the Ethernet cable from his 360 to theethernet port on back of the cable box, and he gets connected online. and so I told him, well I have Comcast Internet as well as Comcast digital cable, so I asked if I can do the same as well.
soo..I figured I could. not only that I know that other ppl run there connection that way too. (and if it works that way wit att idk why it wouldnt work witcomcast.)
and when I was on the phone with XBOX, I told them EXACTLY what I was trying to do.. how it was wired and how Im trying to connect, and they were like"yeah thats fine"... but when they tried helpin me, nothin they said was workin.
once again I dont be gettin down with this tech *$#$, but Im either doin somethin wrong each time I go at it... or Comcast is just wack.. IDK.

I've never heard of it going thru the cable box /w Comcast (or any company), sorry. Everyone I know has it either wired or wirelessly hooked up to therouter/modem. I have the Wii, PS3 and 360 hooked up just fine /w comcast - no problems. plus my laptop.

This happened to me. It's not as easy as hooking the ethernet cable to the comcast modem.
You have to manually type in your IP Adress, DNS servers, and all that in to the 360. That's all you have to do, just go on your computer and find theplace that gives you all that info, make sure you internet is connected.
Once you have the info put the ethernet cable back on the modem and then type the IP adress, dns servers, and all that in to the 360. Should work fine if youdo all that.

I've never heard that you can connect to the internet thru the actually Comcast Cable Box.

^^ are you talking about the actual comcast modem or the comcast digital cable box?
and
^I know its a FACT that you can do the connection I'm attempting with AT&T, cuz PLENTY of my friends connect that way.
again I guess its either Comcast ftl, or I'm doin something wrong....

your comcast cable box isn't connected to the high speed internet that is upstairs in your moms room
you cannot connect to xbox live thru your set-top cable box.
you have to connect it to the actual modem.
there is no way the method that you are trying is going to work.
