Hey NT - I'm propsing to my GF tomorrow. How did you guys do it?

I did it with a fortune cookie.

It was the day she graduated with her masters degree from UCLA. I had the ring in my pocket the whole day, man it was burning a hole in my pants. I was a wreckall day from being so nervous.

Now mind you, we had been together 6 years and I had known her for 10 so I was 100% sure she was going to say yes but I was still nervous because I wantedeverything to go smoothly that day.

Then we get back to my car after her ceremony and someone had crashed into it while it was parked. Needless to say I was hot!!! I make a police report and callthe insurance company and the whole day was taken up by this.

So we go to dinner which is where I had planned to do it and luckily the restaurant manager was able to take care of everything with little guidance from me. Imanaged to sneak away and tell him to bring me two fortune cookies, which I brought, after dinner and before desert. She unknowingly cracks open one of thecookie and the fortune said "Will you marry me?" The look on her face was absolutely priceless, she looks at it, looks at me, looks back at it. ThenI break out the ring and get on a knee and ask her, so will you marry me?? And of course she said yes.

I think the whole car crash thing earlier in the day helped throw her off because she said she didn't see it coming.

1.5 carets set in a tension setting. The most beautiful ring I saw. Still haven't see another one like it. Fits her beautifully.

I've been w/my girl for a long time and I know she's the one, but I haven't asked yet. My career is in place, I own my own home (we don't livetogether) but...

My brother did it with a build a bear. Had that voice recording you can put in it saying "will you marry me". it worked

Congratulations man. Taking a big step. I recently proposed to my girl on Xmas-eve in what turned out to be my plan C.

plan A was to fly her out to NYC impromptu trip and do it out there (fail)

plan B was to do it at a Clippers game (yea its pathetic, but Im a clips fan) but I fully expected her to say no and walk away so i chickend out of that (fail)

I had asked her parents permission 3-4 weeks prior when I went out to lunch with her pops so it was just a matter of when. I was def. goin for the embarrasingroute as it is our nature (me and my girl) to always joke on each other and stuff. Every year (been together bout 5 yrs) we spend xmas eve with her family andxmas day dinner with my family. The Xmas eve dinner is with extended family, cousins, grandparents, etc... They have a pretty tight knit family so I know theextended family pretty well. So after dinner they always gather around the living room to open gifts and stuff. After all the gifts were open I went over toher grandmother, pulled the ring out and was like hey check this out (i wanted her grandmother to be the first to know what was gonna go down, even if it wasonly by a minute or two). My girl thought I was just shootin the skizz with her grandmother and didnt think twice bout it. I then ask her to come over cause Ineed to show her something. When she came over i turned around got down on one knee and asked her. Embarrassed the heck outta her.

Best part was she didnt respond right away cause she was in shock and started tearin up. I then here her dad say "If you cant talk, just nod your headinstead". Instantly she shoots her pop the meaning stoneface I ever seen then turns to me and says Yes.

To dude who recommended putting it on a fishing line and having her reel it in... u crazy homie. I'm pretty sure I speak for most guys who have gonethrough the ring shoppin process. Aint no way in hell that ring is gettin more than 6 ft away from me until its on the finger. If I lost $15K cause the damnring got caught on a weed in the river, you bet your #$% im jumping in to look for it.

my girl would cry like a baby if i broke somethin like that out
She did cry. It was beautiful. The look on her face went from surprised, to shocked, to "are you serious" to tears all in the matter ofabout 2 seconds. Then when I got down on one knee and broke out the ring it was an instant yes. I barely got out the words and she was coming over the top ofme saying yes. Then I had a hotel suite that night all decked out with rose petals and champagne. She didn't know about that either. As soon as we got inthere she grabbed my phone and hers and took out the batteries, it was the best night of my life so far. We're getting married in August in Lake Tahoe.

Congrats dude.

If you live with her, just wait until she comes home from work. When she walks through the door toss the box at her w/the ring in it, she'll open it, sayyes, give her the old fashioned head nod, and then turn away and go back to whatever you were watching on TV. That's my plan, but I wont be mad if you tookmy idea.

26.

I don't need the word, definitely coming from the heart...I was asking what yours guys situation was

I'm 26, turn 27 in May, I will probably move in with the GF at the end of this summer (been together 8 years). I will probably pop the question aroundthis time next year.

I actually have two ideas, and depending on circumstances (Financial/Career) it can go either way:

1. Take a trip to Mexico and visit the pyramids (Tenochtitlan), take a hike early in the morning, preferably before sunrise. Catch the sunrise from the topof the pyramid, hopefully she will be distracted by the sight of it, I will bust my move then.

2. I hate to say it, but it sounds like yours (

). We both love SanFrancisco and take an annual trip out there. A hike by the Golden Gate bridge (

), and when we hit a visually amazing spot, drop to one knee.

So the big day is tomorrow.

More details when I get back on Monday, hopefully w/ pics.....

Overview-
-I work in accounting, so I planned this day based on saying "Lets have one weekend together before I work every Saturday till April"
-Asked her parents for permission on Christmas Eve before she got home from work
-Had a good friend's gf make the ring since she's a jewelery maker and does great work (wholesale - FTW!)
-The ring is simple and fitting for my gf: 3 stone set, 1 center (.50) and 2 side stones given to me by my mother from my grandmother's ring
-We've planned to go hiking by the Golden Gate, something she has wanted to do and loves the area
-Hotel that she doesn't know about
-Dinner reservations she doesn't know about

Should be a great time.

It went well, just as expected.

We got up decently early for a Saturday morning and headed out to Marin to make our way to the Marin side of the Golden Gate for a little hike and see thebridge. Its beautiful area which allows you to see the better part of the SF skyline, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate looks so close from thatpoint.

Surprisingly, we were like the only two up at this point. There was another guy around on his bicycle but he was in his own little world. So we walked aroundthe area and she was taking in the view. I stepped behind her and pulled the ring box from my sock (black Nike socks with black Foamposite Pros) and got thering out.

She turned around and I was on one knee and spoke some words from my heart. Her initial shocked reaction was "what are you doing" and "getup" which were all too cute. Then the tears came. She said yes and we had a

kiss. Then eventually tons of people were in the ares, so it really worked out.

We stayed at the Plaza Hotel in SF, where she was taken as a little kid by an Aunt for tea but I did not know that when I booked it. We called our parents, who knew in advance, and other friends and family.
Eventually we had brunch at Scala's in which I sat 6 feet from Dustin Pedroia (hey, Dustin, if you don't want to be noticed don't wear a Red Soxhat). After that we napped and headed to Coi for a wonderful meal (tasting menu, and quite expensive).

Memorable night and occassion, I look forward to the rest ouf lives togehter. She's compliements me as no one else could and that part of the reason Iknew she's the one.

I have some pics, but don't have the camera with me.
