Hundreds crowd newly reopened Florida beaches even as the state sees a spike in coronavirus infections

  • Minutes after beaches in North Florida were reopened by the governor at 5 p.m. on Friday, hundreds of locals flooded the sand.
  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday announced that some beaches and parks in his state could reopen less than three weeks into his statewide stay-home order.
  • DeSantis urged residents to limit their beach activity to exercise and to avoid gathering or coming with 6 feet of others.
  • But many beachgoers in Jacksonville didn't appear to be following the government's social distancing guidelines as they sunbathed and gathered with friends on Friday evening.

"More than 75% had high blood pressure, about 35% had diabetes and a third suffered from heart disease."

Yeah we should be fine here in the States...
More than 100 million Americans have high blood pressure, AHA says

  • 34.2 million people, or 10.5% of the U.S. population, have diabetes. An estimated 26.8 million people - or 10.2% of the population - had diagnosed diabetes. Approximately 7.3 million people have diabetes but have not yet been diagnosed (2018).

  • Number of adults with diagnosed heart disease: 30.3 million

When y'all think US gonna hit 1M cases and 50K deaths?

Y'all at 722K and 33K right now.
April 27-29 - 1 million cases
April 26-28- 50k deaths

we're adding >30k cases and >2k deaths per day. roughly following Italy's trend, we should see those numbers trend down towards 15k-20k cases and ~1k deaths per day by early May. that's assuming we maintain stay-at-home orders.

Nothing to worry about in America. Only 1 out of 3 Americans has high blood pressure so it's a low risk category

The annoying thing is that they're not even there to be at the beach they're just there to be annoying. I see pics of ppl wearing sneakers & or jeans.

99% of Those Who Died From Virus Had Other Illness, Italy Says

it's probably too late, but I would love if we could standardize how countries count a death due to rona. It's tough to compare numbers between countries when they are counting deaths & confirmed cases differently. Also, am I the only one who is interested in seeing the net deaths that rona actually contributed?
For instance, we are only looking at the death count, but we leave out deaths such as ones caused by not being able to be saved due to the limited capacity of the hospital and lives saved (fewer car accidents, fewer homicides, more healthy life choices, etc.)

The Influencer Economy Hurtles Toward Its First Recession
Faced with a pandemic on the one hand and slashed budgets on the other, some industry insiders say it’s time for influencing to evolve.

Trump needs to speak to world leaders and get them to open the globe back up for sake of influencers, the culture and social media as a whole. Can’t have that blood on your hands.

Those are all interesting questions but it will take a while to get it all sorted out.

I'm curious to see 10-20 years out if we see any bumps in chronic diseases, either up or down, that arise in 2020.

In some states you have police arresting and ripping people out of buses for not wearing a mask... then there's Florida

China and Singapore had two of the mots strict lockdowns and still haven't solved the problem.
The U.S. had some fugazi G-League lockdown and people protesting. This will end superbly

****ing Darwinism in effect..........if only we can protect the innocents from the IDIOTS from their virus spread

Coronavirus Advice From Abroad: 7 Lessons America’s Governors Should Not Ignore as They Reopen Their Economies
We spoke to frontline experts from around the globe and have compiled a list of recommendations for reopening U.S. states. Their consensus? It’s tough to find policies that simultaneously save lives and livelihoods.

Was just at a local Asian supermarket
Looks like you can’t shop without a mask
I believe I saw them provide masks and gloves to some customers who weren’t wearing any after they walked in
There is a guy checking all customers
I’m not sure if it’s mandatory but there was a little station with hand sanitizer, gloves and masks free for customers

Figuring all Asian supermarkets been doing the mask check and numbers count for some time. Said before, personally would like to see places also do the Temp Check. Noninvasive and takes little time.
Just got out of nearby ups store. Store counter girls have mask, plastic partition and observe distance. But older white couple, middle aged Latino couple (husband had mask, wife didn’t), young black dude and middle aged Asian man with no masks.
What in the Hell, people.

A lot of Asian people out in Houston are wearing masks, and most of the young millenial (and most Gen-Z) folk of all races are wearing them out here too.

But white, latino, and middle-to-older age black folk........nope, them folk out in here in H-Town too scurred of 'dem masks
