Ok, I'm really young to be a senior in high school- i just turned 17 a couple weeks ago. My ENTIRE life i've been screwed as far as sports go, i'mon the grade level with all the coaches kids and very good people, including our star player who right now is nineteen and a half. (b-ball) btw. I only startedgetting tall last year and am only now actually getting really good. Basically all in all i'm a late bloomer. Is there any way- at all possible, ANYTHING Icould do to get or repeat another year of high school? as weird as that sounds. I just don't feel like a senior- most people i know are juniors and i'mthere age. Last year was my first year making the team and I never had a chance to do Summer league (coach fired). If i had another year i'd play football, possibly get a basketball scholarship- and basically just be the normal age. Is there any way i can get another year without negatively affecting my GPA?Because my mom thinks that colleges wouldn't give me a second look if it says i failed a year of high school. Cliffnotes 1. Am young for high school 2.late bloomer 3. how do i get another year? not ready for college or anything like that-not even close

ok, im a senoir and 16.. im not really in the same predicament as you, but if you want a nother year.. fail. thats all you can do as far as i know.
but y the hell would you purposely want to redo ur senoir year..?

a friend of mine went to prep school after he graduated.
he played ball for them last year. now hes playing D1 ball.
you should look into that.

Stop complaining. I didn't turn 17 till half a month after my senior year started
and I went through it just fine. Played basketball as well and my senior year
was real cool.
Now I'm a freshman in college (started end of August) and i just turned 18 2 weeks ago

Ya prep school is an option. If you're good enough to play college ball then you're good enough to play college ball though. Even if you're stilldeveloping coaches will see your potential.

thanks yall. and it's not like i'm not going through it fine i'm just coming on to everything late it seems. I don't expect some of yall tounderstand why i want to repeat, just seeing some people i know be 19 years old and playing high school sports seems unfair. and if i just didn't pass likeone class- say english 4, would it really really screw up my GPA and look to colleges like i failed.

go to a prep school for a year, alot of kids on my football team did it ;o but dont go unless a college says they are interested in you and want you to go

Why would you want to stay another year? 19 in high school = dummy IMO. Just do your best at practice and hope the coaches give you a little chance if youhave the talent....then go to college and tryout and probably not make it. There's always a chance tho.

Sounds to me like you're just scare of life after high school. Believe me, man....if you choose to go the college route those will be the years of yourlife, not HS.

it's not like i'm not satisfied with pt or anything, i'm the sixth man but if i had another year i'd be waaaaay better which is what i'msaying. I've only played one year and would really like another one. i'm not even close to anywhere even remotely being good enough to play college nowthough, but if i had another year i feel i would be... not to mention i havn't even began looking at colleges to apply to. i have no idea what i want to dowith my life, where i wanna go, or anything. I wish i had another year- and since i'm young i'm just trying to find out if there's a way to getone.

Like stated, you're not really that young. I felt the same way when I started college at the age of 17. I screwed around the first year ortwo thinking everything would be OK. Fast forward to today at the age of 23, I'm barely starting my Masters degree. Had I focus from the start, I wouldbe done with my MS by now instead of starting it

Same here, I'm 16 and I'm a Senior. I wish I had another year in high school so I can play basketball, but oh well. Life goes on

17 is the average age for seniors. And to answer your question, just fail. But that would be stupid so don't do it.

I thought most kids started senior year at 17 and turned 18 in the year of graduation? Well I just started college and there is a 14 year old in my class andhe's doing just fine if that helps.

OP, i'm sorry but you sound dumb. maybe you won't have to try to fail. but assuming you did.. if you fail a grade why would your school let you playsports the following year? in most places, if you even fail a class for a QUARTER you get kicked off the team for the season. i highly doubt you would beeligible for any kind of extracurriculars if you are a repeat senior.

and you aren't even young... you just turned 17, meaning you were born in '92. you're supposed to be a HS senior then.

my point is being halfway missed- ok maybe i'm not that young (but idc wat yall say everyone else older than me) and it's not like i won't do finein college. i'm cool with all that, but from a sheerly athletic standpoint i was late getting on the sports train- i never got a summer league and only gotto play one year, plus i'm still growing- and i'm still real skinny. if i had another year i would get taller and really fill out- and hopefully bepretty dominant for high school. Me wanting to repeat a year is just simply to get another year of high school athletics under my belt-because i'd get alot better. Also- in the past we've had a garbage coach and system. This year we hired this really good new guy in the military who i'm thinkin isgoing to take our program to a whole other level, and i'm too late to reap the benefits of it

Colleges you apply to ask you why you spent 5 years in high school. How are you going to answer that without sounding dumb?

Not like you're going to get a full ride scholarship because of your game or go pro.

If your not good enough to get a scholarship this year...its unlikely that you will next.
