New homeowner. Currently using ADT but have the option to move on. Wanted to get cameras.

Any of you guys personally have any recommendations?

We have Protection 1, and have no issues with it. Switched from ADT.

Still prefer old school, wired sensors and control panels. But this will be near impossible unless you prewire when the home was being built. So most likely you'll have to use all the new wireless stuff.

Those alarm company services, ADT, and such, ask yourself if you really need to pay those monitoring services. They basically do the calling of authorities, you, etc when triggered. What these companies dont want you to know is there are self monitoring systems.

You purchase that board and add it with the usual alarm system boxes. Connects to your network/internet. Then you can monitor your home yourself from your smart phone. You can see sensor activity, disable them, arm, disarm, etc.

Alarm systems are dirt cheap, thats why many have promotions about free equipment and install, with 2 year monthly commitment monitoring.

Alarm installers will discourage people from doing above because they get a kickback from monitoring companies to have them sign up.

Same goes for security cameras, if you can go with traditional wired system but with the new POE cameras. basically the same internet data cable. 1 cable connects to the camera and takes care of the power and the video feed, instead of how it was before where you need to run audio cable, video cable, and power cable. Now just 1 internet cable. These also provide higher quality then all these wireless video camera systems that a 3rd party stores on their cloud--which usually comes at amonthly price if you want full longer acces to your videos.
