I was just having this conversation with someone and did a write up on it for my blog, so I was wondering what people had to say. I mean to summarize, I'mnot talking about small stations and college radio, I mean the big corporate owned stations. Is the music they are playing really in our best interest? Notonly that, but why should you let someone else tell you what you should listen to, especially when those are probably not the best songs out there. Big labelspaying for spins, etc. I made a lot of other points, so if you want you can read the article below, but I'm curious to people's reactions. I know Imight get some hate for this, but this is a serious question.

Why Should You Ever Listen to Music on the Radio?

I never ever listen to the radio... i hate switchin thru channels when im on vacation or something or with family i NEVER EVER turn it to hip hop channels atall.

They play like a set of 10 commerical songs non stop add commericals talk a lil bit thats like a hour and half maybe play 2 old school songs then too the 10commerical songs again

Aiight cool, I'm glad someone agrees with. I mean it aint like people like Stretch & Bobbito are doing their thing on radio stationsanymore. Besides, that was college radio, and that's not what I'm talking about.

i rather listen to the oldies than listen to all the other stations... radio really sucks

You're not saying anything that hasn't been said a million times before.

Fact is, you don't have to listen. You don't have to let someone tell you what to listen to. Turn on your Ipod and keep it moving. You have options. Sowhy you trippin'?

Another fact is, Radio doesn't care what NT thinks. This forum is mostly dudes. And radio programs itself for Females 18+.

Everyone has an opinion. They're like $#@##!!$. But people really need to look outside of their own scope from time to time.

Not everyone want to hear what YOU want to hear. You say these aren't the best records out there. You say the best artists don't get played on theradio. You say the artists that radio plays don't have talent. Who made your opinion LAW?

Sometimes you don't have to be the best. You just have to be the most popular. The people decide ultimately. They call for their favorite songs. Radiosurvey's their listeners to see what they like. Stations aren't just playing whatever the *%*# they want. They play what their audience wants.

Some chicks like hearing their favorite Britney/Gaga/BEP/Taylor Swift record 10 times a day. Again, point is, the radio station you're probably talkingabout isn't even programming for you. So you ain't supposed to like it.

The reality is, while million of people like/love music, very few are TRULY passionate about it to go FIND it. Everyone else lets it come to them. Many times,in the form of radio.

I mean what I wrote is just what it is, my opinion, when did I say it was law? In fact, music is something that is truly subjective, are thereways to determine what is good music and what isn't?

But I fully agree with your last line, and that is somtehing I may have overlooked, many aren't as passionate as us.

Morning Radio is comedy son. Co-me-dy.

Now the music is

of course.

gotta agree with gtek i listen to power106 just for the morning radio and phonetaps etc but the mess they play for the rest of the day...smh

I don't like listening to the radio. Most artists I listen to don't get much if any radio play anyway. I'd rather just throw in one of my cd's& Im good to go. Sometimes I like new songs that get radio play, but when they do it gets NON STOP play. If I have the choice I won't listen to theradio.

the only other time i listen to the radio is when hockey is on

That's cool that everyone is pretty much in agreement about this on here. Obviously most people are very passionate about music on here and what's whywe come here to discuss it.

I actually used to listen to DJ Clue's mixtape monday or whatever it was called, he played stuff that wasn't mainstream, but that was before stuffreally premiered online.
