I've been working on this since about this time last year.
One thing you HAVE to do is be COMPLETELY honest with yourself & others, no matter if it's embarassing, difficult, troubling, soft, over the top, whatever. You aren't going to get what you're looking for if you hide anything you feel inside yourself. This is MAJOR, you instead need to embrace yourself & your imperfections, realize you won't have everything figured out & you're on a never ending journey, realize not everyone will like everything you do, realize you can't define or expect things with people you need to take them as the imperfect people they are, you need to explore the depths of your mind a little & see what may spin off from what you like so you can be more diverse in what you go after.
Remember you're capable of ANYTHING you set your mind to so don't limit yourself to just "normal" & "basic" things so you can fit in, there's levels to this **** man & you trying to find yourself meansreaching your own level, no matter how high or low it may be, you gotta take it, own it, embrace it & appreciate it because it's yours & only yours.
I'll tell you some of what's been helping me move along this journey:
-The entire last 1/2 of the year ended up being about "Perception", how everyone has a different perception of the same events that happen & will just see things in a different light because they are flat out NOT YOU, they have different situations in their past that gave them a different set of ideas & morals that shape their perception of things. Because of this you need to look into yourself, embrace what you experienced before & understand what you do only.
-This year is all about "Patience" & realizing things won't happen all at once or right away, give yourself time to make mistakes & learn yourself. Things will get hard sometimes for sure but you gotta see yourself through things & remain encouraged.
-I created a vision board with a collage of different pics that represent goals I set for myself, it's hanging in my room so I had to take time to make it & I have to see it on my wall every day I wake up.
-I put a whiteboard in my room so any thoughts I come up with, ideas I have, things I want to think about later, things that inspire me, all that can go on the board.
-I've been working on words that describe the person I want to have & traits I want to show of myself.
-I've moved away from being online & using social media/watching TV a lot & started replacing it with time spent on things like reading/writing & just spending time with people doing different things, basically appreciating the things I can do rather than read & look at from what others did.
Hopefully some of that helps you man, or at least gives you an idea of something to try, & hopefully that makes sense because I've been typing this during my work commute lol
