How do Timberland 6" boots fit?

Probably been asked countless times, but how do they fit? I'm looking to get these on sale for the winter:

On the page, it suggests to go one whole size down. Is this true?

In the boots that I do own, which are Red Wings, I went a half size down. So is it one full size down for sure?

I'm also wondering how big of a difference thick work socks will make. Anyways, lemme know how much, if at all, you guys size down for Timberland boots...

yeah, i think there was a thread about this a month or two ago... might be in the sneaker reviews forum instead.

anyways, to me timbs fit HUGE. i wear an 11.5 in most nike running shoes, occasionally an 11 in some jordans/bball shoes, but in timbs i wear a 10.5.

so a full size down is not out of the question.

The fit big...I normally wear a 9 but I bought a 8.5

that is when I wore em back in HS so maybe they changed I dunno? That was back in 04
