Whats ways or how do you stop procrastinating? I always say I'll think of ways to stop, but then I just have to take a nap first, go shopping, then eat dinner, then I haven't done what I was supposed to do or thought of how to stop putting it off? Guess I can fix at least that before i'm married. #kanyeshrug #random

I don't stop. Period.

I've been doing it my whole life.

why are you using hashtags if this isn't twitter though? We cant click them to see search results on here.

I know, its like a viscous cycle almost.

LOL just Habit n the hastags #mybad

OP I honestly don't know...if you find out, please share the info. I suffer from this heavy, it feels like a disease.

Some of what I do that has helped a little...

1) Make a list of what has to be done for the week.
2) Put a date to each task to make it easier on yourself. I usually try to leave just one task per day so I have no excuse.

stay away from any kind of media.. tv, video games, cpu, ipod etc.. maybe even turn ya phone off..

yes it is that heavy, I think that ^ sounds like a good idea, cutting off the cell phone.  I'd say its the most distracting.  Ive heard the make a to do list, but would you really follow it. Im surprised so many others procrastinate too.

I went to the library yesterday to study for finals and avoid football. Ended up streaming the games from my laptop

Try this..

In short, work for 25 minutes and do not take any breaks or distractions, then take a 5 minute free time. After each successful 25 minute session, mark an X somewhere near you, on a piece of paper or post-it note. As you continue, you'll see a chain of X's and you won't want to stop. Then repeat. After four 25 minute sessions, take a longer break of 15-20 minutes. If you know you have free time coming, then staying on task might be a bit easier.

What I'll try to do is 40/20. So 40 minutes I'm sticking to my work and not doing anything else.. then the 20 minutes I get to myself. It works out often because if I'm working on something for 6 hours, I'll dedicate 4 hours of complete work to it.. rather than wasting my time for 6 hours and intermittently doing work in that time. If I'm in a good groove and don't feel like a break, I'll skip it and just keep working. Ideally I would shorten the break time to 45/15, or 50/10, or stick with the Pomodoro 25/5.. but you get the idea.

If you get distracted, give yourself time for the distractions, but stick to work in the other designated time.

Only way to beat procrastination is to just do it...but its easier said than done

This is hard to stop.
Just do it. Basicly.
Motivation has to be a driving force to finish your assignments.

Dealing with it myself, trying to stop. Only suggestion I have so far. Is to just do it.

I used to do it all the time but something EXTREMELY BIG will happen that will make you stop procrastinating.

This is pretty much what I do

I could never stop procrastinating all throughout high school and university.  I tried to go to the library after classes everyday but I would end up surfing the web on my laptop or taking a nap.  I waited until the last day to do assignments, write essays and even study for final exams up and including my last year.

Luckily for me, I do not do that at work.  I guess knowing that other people depend on you gives you a nice swift kick in the a** to get things done in a timely manner.

Although, for non-work related stuff, I'm still lazy as hell putting stuff off until the last moment when I have something I do not want to do (ie. updating my resume).

This sounds like the best idea, Ive heard in a while.  I have h/w to do that im stating in 3 mins (9:00) so I'll have an easy way to time it.  I'll also combine the method of turning off cell phones etc.  Huugg wish me luck, hopefully we all stop being lazy lol. I thought it was just me.
