HOW DOES HOME SHARING WORK ON ITUNES?

I'm trying to get a Smashing Pumpkins album from my PC to my Mac, how does this work? I put in my e-mail and password but the "Home Sharing" tab on iTunes disappeared. Can someone help me out?

it will only stream as long as your connected to the same wifi network.

I don't think you can copy music from it, but i could be wrong.

its for streaming your library to another computer on the SAME NETWORK.

Nevermind, got it to work.

Just turned off my router and turned it back on.

I wish I knew. I loved this when I was dorming. I was living off other ppl's music for months. Can't copy the music though (unless that was just something they blocked).

You do have to have to be connected to the same wifi though.

I got home sharing to work but only for a little while. The shared tab disappeared. I got it to work via turning my router off and on again but I tried recently and its not working. Any tips?

There used to be an app called Mytunes Redux that you could use to take people's music off the network.  Then in 2006, Apple updated iTunes to block that hole.  Between that, Kazaa, and Napster, that is where most of my music collection came from.  Now with Spotify, I'm set!
