How exactly do money orders work?

Whenever someone pays me with a money order I always get it sent in my dad's name since I dont have a bank account.
If one is sent in my name could It still be cashed by my dad at his bank?

you have to have an id to cash a money order... if your dad cash it at his bank then 9/10 it should be free.
but if he cashes the money order at another location they might charge 1-3 dollars.

if its in your name it wouldn't be a good idea for you dad to cash it... he could go down for forgery(correct me if im wrong)

I notice that you're selling the Jams in your sig and only accepting MO. Well....just have the buyer get an MO from USPS, and you can get them cashed at your local USPS if you have a valid ID.

I'm the buyer... it'll be a US postal money order but it won't be USPS as I live in Canada. Not sure how you would cash it there.
