How far are we out on a Hollywood Filipino Flick?

Water 'us' down? And How the hell does it make any sense if a good movie doesn't get heard about in the media. Its a damn movie. It is media.And critically acclaimed is not equal to box office success. I haven't heard anyone even talk about any Rizal movies. Ever.

There are a lot of Filipino porn stars...Charmaine Star,Lily Thai,Kaylani Lei,etc.

As far as a legit movie,it would have to be one of those movies where someone like Paul Walker falls in love with someone like Anne Curtis and follows her to the P.I. and it ends up like a culture clash/fish out of water story...I don't see an action/adventure type of movie anytime soon unless James Bond somehow has to go there...

Well, we're not really mainstream Asians.  Japan has an aura about it and has stuff like Godzilla, samurais, and anime.  We need topics like that that will interest a general audience.  Someone would have to do a smaller production film like Slumdog Millionaire or my Big Fat Greek Wedding.  No doubt they'd cast all lightskin people in the movie like I always see on TFC.

I'm Filipino and something just seems wrong about having a Filipino movie..

I don't think there'll be a Hollywood Filipino flick any time soon. While I'd love to be wrong, think about it: we've never seen a Filipino actor in a supporting role that can potentially carry a lead role. The only other option would be to bring an "internationally known" actor / actress from the PI over to the states to star in a movie. Only problem with that is there's no Hollywood-esque film studio in the Philippines. The reason the film industry is strong in S Korea, Japan, and China is bc of their overall economic growth. I'm sure when / if the Philippines sees some kind of economic growth, a film studio will come along.
