Cashing In on Your Hit YouTube Video
Katie Clem posted a video on YouTube this month of her daughter Lily’s poignant and funny reaction to her sixth birthday present, a trip to Disneyland, for her friends and family. Then it went viral.
In three weeks it has been watched more than five million times, and Lily has become a minor Internet celebrity. Of far more importance, at least to Lily’s parents, the video is poised to make enough money from advertisements to send Lily to college.
Creating a video that attracts millions of viewers and becomes a pop culture phenomenon involves an unpredictable cocktail of luck and timing. A dash of cute babies or people acting like idiots can only help. But once a video goes viral, making some cold cash depends on quick action.
Here is some advice on how to take advantage of your 15 minutes of Internet fame from people who did just that.
MAKE AN OUTSTANDING VIDEO There is no recipe for creating a viral video, but there are a few common traits.
Take the time to identify the video by writing a detailed title and description so people and search engines can find it easily, said Kevin Allocca, manager of YouTube Trends. “Surprised Kitty

This question is asked ALL the time. When I first started coming up, all my friends had these CRAZY ideas about how much I was getting. Let me just say, it has NOTHING to do with the number of subscribers that you have. Does having subscribers, generate you more money? Yes. But NOT because the number is high. It is because having subscribers, means your video is going to get watched by those people therefore generating more income into your account. It all runs based off of google adsense. Google is a MONSTER when it comes to advertising. My videos are for the most part, Middle Eastern related, and google puts ads for SingleMuslims.com and "SUPPORT ISRAEL." knowing who watches my videos and what is going to get their attention. The actual payment amount is based off of some crazy algorithm. You are getting paid a dollar amount per 1,000 views. The BIG BIG BIG name YouTubers are easily generating 6 figures. They have adsense, merchandise and also events that they attend. Everyone else, is getting a cool amount.
With me, I started doing this for fun. It is what I love and am passionate about. I couldn't care less about the money. I didn't even know how serious it was. Now that there is money coming in, I don't use it to milk money. I have been offered many opportunities to promote companies, brands etc, who proposed a payment plan with me which I happily turned down. I have built a trusting relationship between me and my loyal subscribers and I don't want to diminish the name of my brand that I have worked so hard to build. 30% of my profits are also given to a company that allowed me to become a YouTube partner while still having my copyright material on my channel. The rest of the money, is just so I can help my mom pay for my tuition and have money to eat and go to college comfortably without having to focus on a part time job.
Starting January 1st. I am starting a huge new theme on my second channel, and each month I will be donating money to a charity of my subscribers choice. A way to give back together while still doing what I love. I don't mean to post my videos. But as a fellow Niketalker, I just want you all to see some of the stuff I have been doing. The attention and love the Middle Eastern Community is showing is insane! Best support group in the world. And also major shout outs to the Niketalker in Jersey who gave me daps on the streets!
