How to fix sound on Computer?

I just totally rebooted my computer by recovering it since it crashed and everyone is gone. The speaker works and functions but the computer is not detecting it. Are there drivers I need to install or what?

are you using a brand name pc/laptop or a build your own one?

most likely if you're using a brand name they have the drivers on the website i.e. when I installed WIN 7 on my laptop I had to DL all over again and had to use Vista 64-bit drivers + hardware drivers

i checked the drivers but there is one audio one but when i download it it doesnt work cause it doesnt function

what are your computer specs?

Since you said realtek, you must have onboard.

find out the model of your motherboard.

edit: nvm you didnt say realtek. sound card or no sound card? either way, give us the make and model of the motherboard

i got a dell dimension with some speakers that connect to an electrical outlet but doesn't connect to computer....its been working for 6 years but since i rebooted my computer it doesn't work

when i go to sounds on control panelk, it finds no device and i cant do anything in that section of the sounds
