Saw this come up today in social media.  The bb example makes sense and his solution is good too!

Can't wait to see Chris Rock tackle this as host.

I read the thread title half-thinking is there some controversy about a guy named Oscar Black?

After watching, I gotta ask OP, can you not see dude is mocking the entire thing? or are you on ya SWS grind? Dude pulls out a black Oscar and then starts pressing it on his crouch for phallus symbolism. He's not being serious in the least.

Creating an award show just for black ppl in the performing arts again is not the answer AT ALL.

Maybe another solution would be casting more minorities in roles.  If the majority of roles are right, then it only follows that you're going to have more nominations.  But then again, if you're making movies for a predominatnely white audience, it only makes sense to cast white roles so it's a bit of a catch 22.

If y'all wanna solve the controversy. People of color need to assume and strive better roles. Stop taking subservient and stereotypical roles and take roles that are left field or do not perpetuate a common stereotype of an ethnicity.

extend the wait period to a year

At the least.. Bill Simmons brings this up a bit.. But they really need a 2-5 year waiting period to see how certain movies/performances settle in before properly judging them
