Hulk Hogan Dead at age 71

Don't get worked

Damn I seen him trashing this admin recently.

Maybe he changed his tune.

From what I gather, Nash supported the Trumpalina in 2016 but recently came to his senses. That pic is from 2016.

Also go watch wrestlers do shoot interviews on Hogan on YouTube. He was a 💩 dude.

This one is REALLY complicated for me, and I’ll get into that later and hope I don’t get smashed for that. And I think a lot of wrestling fans in their late 30s-40s that fell into love with it in the mid 80s can empathize with that feeling.

Celebrities can be complicated due to their power and influence.

Example: I was a huge fan of Adam Carolla for decades. Loveline (radio and TV), Man Show, his morning radio show, the early podcast days. But, he's gone off the rails, and he's a pseudo right wing grifter now. It doesn't erase the memories, though. My friends still text random Carolla-isms from old Loveline episodes. But it's sad to see what he's turned into. That being said, he's never gone to this type of level where he's reviled the way Hogan's death has been received. In fact, when TIME released its Top 100 Podcasts of all time this week, both Rogan AND Carolla were excluded, when both were pioneers in the format. Even the ardent haters were, like, "you can't leave them off this list". You can't ignore history just because you don't agree with them. It's like saying Darren Sharper wasn't one of the two best safeties in the NFL at one point. He was. He's also in prison for awhile for being an awful human being. Both things can be true.

Again, it's complicated.

That being said, Hogan was a true POS.

TIL he was 6’ 7” :eek never registered lol even when he went toe to toe with Andre

Respectfully, Adam Carolla isn’t anywhere close to famous enough to matter to like 99.9% of people on planet earth. Nobody is gonna revile him when he dies b/c they’re just gonna be like…

The Hulkster is legendary. Total douchebag, but he’s known worldwide.

Okay, here’s my take. I don’t condone or like pretty much anything Hulk has done from 2007 on. I can’t reconcile what he did, there’s no way I can condone what he said in that leaked audio, there’s no way I can condone the things he’s said in the tapes of him and Linda talking to Nick in jail, there’s no way I can condone the last year of his ardent Trump support and his comments about Kamala Harris in the weeks after. But I CANNOT be happy he died. He had family and friends. He had loved ones. Hogan is responsible for my just turned 40 year old love affair with Pro Wrestling (I became a fan in probably late May, Early June of 85 as a three going on 4 year old. Many of my happiest childhood memories, he was the architect of, my Dad HATED pro wrestling but would take me to the old Richfield coliseum to see WWF, and many of those shows were headlined by Hogan. I was a true blue Hulkamaniac, I cried like a ***** when he lost the title to Andre on TV in ‘88 and was sad when he lost it to Taker at Survivor Series 1991 (Despite knowing from an early age it was a work…and knowing it was all for show…my Dad made sure to let me know that when I just started watching it) I believed in Hulkamania and the Demandments, but I also believed that Hulkamania stood against bullies, stood for treating people different than me fairly and kindly…INCLUDING immigrants and LGBTQ people. However, when Hulk went out there and endorsed Trump. He was endorsing the ANTITHESIS of what Hulkamania was supposed to stand for. I’m a fan of Hulk Hogan from 1984-2006, I’m NOT a fan of the man Terry Bolea was or became. Hulk Hogan and the idea was awesome, the man portraying him was far less than…I’ll still be able to watch old 80s and early 90s WWF and Hulk and feel happy, the same way I can reconcile watching old Chris Benoit, Ultimate Warrior, Jimmy Snuka, and sadly more and more, Ric Flair stuff.

Meh... was in bad taste.

Was a video mocking Hulk entrance music.

Not the time or place.

RIP

I think the endless flow of Hulkster in heaven AI slop is more offensive than the jokes

Sad to hear of another wrestler passing away. WWF was fun to watch in the late 80s and early 90s for me. I was in elementary school and we all talked about the matches we saw on TV that weekend along with what cartoons we watched, toys or Nintendo game we played with. Rip to Hulk Hogan.

When is it ok to separate the art from the artist?

Is it ok to like someone’s music if they are a POS?

Is it ok to like a movie if they actor/director is a POS?

Is it ok to like a team/athlete if they’re a POS?

Where do lines get drawn?

People claim to “separate” when they actually don’t. Truth is, you can’t. People just want to justify why they support that person.

I guess the long shot answer would be “I didn’t know that he ______”. I could see that

It being “ok” is also up to the individual. Said it before, I hope no person claiming to be a self respecting minority is supporting a man that would call you a slur and laugh.

Just my take

This was me. A year or two ago I posted about being excited to finding some WWF socks at Ross. Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior to be exact. I was surprised at the sad emojis and comments afterwards. I stopped watching wrestling after 6th grade (1993) so I didn't keep up with them or the sport altogether since I moved on to other interests and hobbies.

Don't put famous people on a pedestal
