I don't know about you, but having a highly educated First Lady in the White House just makes me feel more comfortable about being a citizen of the UnitedStates.

Thank you for setting a high standard for the women in our country, Michelle Obama!

Jackie O set a standard, she looked great for a first lady, style from head to toe

I wasn't exactly talking about fashion...

I think Eleanor Roosevelt is still the standard bearer for all First Ladies

At least Oh The Places We Go is weird enough to have been a respectable choice. That book has an edge to it.

Again, how does a first lady with a law degree set a high standard for women in our country?

What is more, how does it make you feel more comfortable about being a citizen of the US?

What power does Michelle wield? What difference can she make?

She could suggest policy through her husband I suppose, but us older NTers can still remember how Hilary's speech on nationalized health care went over inthe mid-90's.

I am not going to deny that some of Obama's rhetoric makes me hopeful, but honestly some of you need to calm down a bit. He is still a politician, butpeople are acting like he is the next jesus. As a result, my fear is that sheep who know little about policy and are caught up in the cult of personality willfollow him blindly not holding him accountable for the promises he has made. These are the same people that would say "Bush is the worst presidentever!" over and over again with no understanding of what he had done while in office and lacking any historic basis to make that claim.
